Oh how jaded we are. Valiant comics is still less than 1% of the comic market, right? The idea that our actors are going to be anyone who have been in anything outside of Iowa community theater is kinda ridiculous.

We're the true fans. We're going to hate all the studio changes to the movies no matter what. That's a given. But at least we get to hate big names. :thumb:
Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for the movie news, and I like VD better than...let me rephrase that...I prefer Vin Diesel to Jared Leto for the role, and he has shown an ability to play more dramatic roles (though not much since his earlier days of Saving Private Ryan and Boiler Room).

It’s more that I’m afraid him in the role will come off as just another cheesy, heavy FX, action movie to the average movie goer and might end up hurting more than helping the film.

I only want VEI films to be successful. A big name actor and the PR that comes with it are great, but I have my fingers crossed that everything about the films is top notch.

Vin Diesel works. If it turns out to be true, it's pretty exciting. :thumb:

Very excited about the possibility. Hopefully optimistic that this becomes reality. I would take a well done, hard 'R' movie with Vin Diesel as Bloodshot over a Disneyfied Bloodshot & Bloodsquirt kid friendly movie that can put toys in Happy Meals.

Was Bautista ever confirmed as Gilad? I'm not against that casting but he sure doesn't look like Gilad.

Perhaps, however, there are a limited number of well-known actors who happen to be ethnically ambiguous in addition to being 6′ 3″, and 289 lbs. Gilad is actually supped to be close to 6' 7" and 270 lbs, which would make it even more difficult.

Bautista is a solid pic for the role.

I agree with most of what you said, I just think he doesn't have the youthful looking face Gilad is supposed to have. I'm not sure how old Gilad was when he died, but he looks around his twenties in my opinion.

This is just a minor nitpick though. I actually like Bautista and think he would do it well. If he has to look older to get the suitable actor in the role then I'm ok with that.

I think, from what I can remember, he is a fan. I remember when this news first came out, it was on his twitter page, but it's not there now.

Doesn't have a youthful face? I don't think Gilad has ever had a youthful face, and the scars help with that idea. Also, add the grit of war over the years, and even though he is ageless, he looks (and in my mind, portrayed) as aged.

Yeah, I don’t know if that was a serious thing or Dino/Bautista teasing us by retweeting his fan pics.

I vote Rory McCann (the hound) if there is a 4001 Gilad.

And as far as Vin goes that's awesome news. He's proven he has legions of fans that will go to his movies no matter how good they are. This could be valiants iron man cash cow that funds an expansion of the rest of the universe! Also I've heard Vin is as big a comic fan as anyone here so it won't be just a paycheck to him.

I've been reading the first run of Archer & Armstrong recently, which has the art style make Gilad look young. That may be affecting my perspective a bit.

Don't forget to argue that back in the day people aged quicker from exposure to sun (hashtag historically accurate?) ! I'd like to see Bautista continue to surprise me with his acting range. I remember when he came to the WWE (or was there still and F at the time?) he lacked all personality and to see him now cracking jokes in Guardians--and being one of the best parts...wow.

Though my dream for the Immortal Brothers would be all three played by Eric Bana--but he kinda has a bad habit of picking bad movies so him signing onto a Valiant film would make me nervous. Still, the guy has the untapped charism/humor for Armstrong (see Chopper). The awesome duty first hero of Gilad (black hawk down/Troy) . And the possibility to be the clean cut charming time walker of Ivar (Luck You).

Wow Greg! I’m slightly more optimistic in the potential to snag a name. Actors that would play Bloodshot could potentially remember the early 90s. I think Jared Leto is far fetched and not a character match but Leto, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, are all about our age. VEI could fall into a name, especially if Sony is actually involved. Also remember, the market is completely flooded with hungry players, cash ready to deploy, and every character under the sun getting action. If Iron Fist, Black Panther, and Jessica Jones are getting play, why not Bloodshot? Amazon is spending $6 billion/year is the number I heard. Netflix is making a series for every Marvel character we can think of. Major actors are Joey Ning the fray. So more than Iowa theater isn’t outside the realm of possibility imo.
