Key Collector Comics free mobile app (feedback, submissions)
Hello Valiant Fans!
Thank you for your support of Key Collector Comics mobile app. I hope you're all enjoying the world's first mobile app dedicated entirely to identifying and collecting key issue comics. My goal is to make this a credible and reliable resource to comic book collectors but especially to the Valiant fans who I hope are enjoying the key portal to the best books in the industry.
Please help me populate the Valiant key list with your suggestions. Variants, rare books, key issues...anything and everything that contains a milestone moment, instance of significance or adds to the historic framework of the Valiant Universe.
Beyond that, any feedback to the general functionality of the app or additional features I can add to future builds. Nothing is too out there to consider so help me THINK BIG! I am working on consolidating the Valiant keys to Titles so you don't have to scroll scroll scroll etc etc...
Please keep the suggested keys specific to Valiant for the purposes of the message board. Additional key submissions can be sent to nick@keycollectorcomics.com or if you want to send a message privately, feel free to reach out at any time and I promise to reply ASAP!
If you haven't downloaded the app, you can do so by clicking the following links:

Thanks for the post! Testing it out, I like the app not only for its Valiant info, which is really helpful, but for the Daredevil news I've gotten from it. I have many DD keys, but the app quickly zeroes me in on some that I don't.

What's your vetting process for the information that you're including? I noticed at least a couple of errors in regards to first appearances when I gave a quick look through the app. If you're asking us to help populate the app with info, how are you going to determine the veracity of that info?
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

Livewire does not appear in Harbinger #14 (1993).
Her first appearance is #15.

Re: Key Collector Comics free mobile app (feedback, submissi
That's one that I noticed. And more accurately perhaps, 14 is a Stronghold cameo, with 15 being a full appearance. 15 is arguably more of a cameo than a full for Livewire, but since her appearance is part of the main story (unlike Stronghold in 14, which is a last-page teaser) maybe it's not accurate to call it a cameo. Either way, 16 would be the first cover appearance for both.greg wrote:Livewire does not appear in Harbinger #14 (1993).

Re: Key Collector Comics free mobile app (feedback, submissi
Good question. Thanks for getting involved and I apologize about the delay in replying. The criteria by which I select keys is not rigid in its parameters but generally speaking: a value threshold of at least $8 on books published after the Silver Age or a milestone moment or revelation that significantly altered the character from that point forward. Also an incident that can be considered historic in the context of comic book history or specific to a publisher’s universe.kjjohanson wrote:What's your vetting process for the information that you're including? As I said, these are not engraved in the Key CollectornComics charter but they serve as good guideposts for the sake of consistency. Thank you for your corrections also. I’ll delve into that and adjust accordingly. -Nick

Re: Key Collector Comics free mobile app (feedback, submissi
The description of why something is key needs a bit more clarification. Bloodshot 51 is simply listed as "scarce." This is true, and is also true of a lot of the books published at that time, but the fact that it's the last issue in the series is what has kept the value high. Same goes for most of the last issues in that time period (Magnus 64, Solar 60, Eternal Warrior 50, X-O 68, Shadowman 43).
The way variant issues are listed could be cleaned up a bit too. For some issues only a variant is listed (I'm assuming because it's rare), while for other books the regular cover is listed and variants are also listed. As someone that follows how variants are selling, I tend to know why a book is included, but I don't think it's clear for the people that would be using the app to select their purchases. Maybe list all covers together for a book that's a key because of a first appearance or some significant event, and if it's only included because it's rare, indicate that (maybe with info that it doesn't often come up for sale).

If possible, I'd like it if I could provide more detail about the books I own in the app such as if it's a raw or slabbed copy and the particular grade if it's slabbed. That way I know how bad I want to upgrade what I have.

Re: Key Collector Comics free mobile app (feedback, submissi
. I’m sorry I missed this! I might not be following you with this but the purpose of the app is to isolate key issues, valuable issues or issues with context to the universe in which it altered like introducing a new character. Good feedback on Bloodshot 51 being the final issue. I’ll include that. For the most part l. Many of the issues have detailed descriptions as to why they’re keys. Also variants are notated as variants in the Issue number. I’m not sure why I’d include the regular cover of an issue if it doesn’t have some key descriptor attribute.kjjohanson wrote:The description of why something is key needs a bit more clarification. You’re right. The list is a mess right now but next week when we update youll be able to scroll through it as titles categorized as opposed to just a whole bunch of issues stacked onto one another.
Good feedback. Thank you

I'm hoping to organize some slabs and raw books this weekend and use the app pretty extensively and I'll try to post some feedback.

I automatically downloaded the app when I seen Dinesh tweet about it. I think it’s pretty cool...

Re: Key Collector Comics free mobile app (feedback, submissi
This thread so cool ! I was thinking of something today, never thought i could talk to its creator.
My point is far from a revolutionnary feature.. But I felt the need of using it but it wasnt available (at least i don't think so).
Mostly, when i go to "My wanted keys" I would like to be able to alphabetically list them. Because when i look in a online/real life shop, i'd like to keep using this app and just search from A-Z.
So for instance, once im done looking for my missing A&A issues, i can keep on to Bloodshot, then Divinity... And so on, this way i'm sure i'm not forgetting any titles or issues.

Getting better every week. Will be nice when it is broken down into categories by title. It's tough with Valiant due to all the rarer variants.

Re: Key Collector Comics free mobile app (feedback, submissi
Nick, I like the app so far and it's obvious how much work you have and are putting into it.
I would like to be able to add pictures from the same screen that asks for the quantity, price paid, whether it's signed or restored, and condition notes.
I use the notes section to indicate who signed it and if it's Signature Series, Qualified, or Verified (CBCS label, but that may be something you'd like to add one day.
I also use the notes to indicate the purchase month and year which I find useful to know along with my purchase price in case you ever want to add that as a field.
In the "View Owned" screen, I wish once I selected a book that the default picture would be the one I took and loaded. It just feel like this screen could be more viewer friendly somehow.
Overall, I REALLY like the app so far and it's very nice to be able to document my collection and wish list this way.
Best,
George
PS - Please consider adding Justice League #5 from 1987 to your database for the "One Punch" story with Batman and Guy Gardner.
