Yes! I would like more of #0 and #10. Art and story wise.

This is from the interview section of "The Valiant - First Look" edition available on comixology - it's for free.Brapbrap wrote:didnt lemire already say he was working on it or something?

This was back in 2015 though.Jeff, this is notably your first work at Valiant, and your first chance to handle all of Valiant's biggest heroes. Is there any one in particular that you would like to get your hands on in the future?

That was for The Valiant. Now he's likely close to finishing up his Bloodshot (like guns) run, and perhaps starting a run on Shadowman (the dark)?Sunlight on Snow wrote:This is from the interview section of "The Valiant - First Look" edition available on comixology - it's for free.Brapbrap wrote:didnt lemire already say he was working on it or something?

Sure, it was 2015, but Shadowman needed to be re-tooled, and it may not have fit in the current timeline. Maybe there needed to be some set up for this to happen...

Re: Shadowman reboot: writer poll
Precisely my thoughts on the matter, Moosey. It is not uncommon for Valiant to have these properties percolating on the backburner for some time. As I recall, Dinesh was dropping hints about Savage and Britannia for months before the announcement, and I'm tempted to say they've been doing the same thing for Eternity for almost 2 years now. There's no telling how long they have been sitting on the concept for the new Shadowman series... it could be fait accompli at this point, just a matter of releasing it when the time was right.TheeBaldMoose wrote:I like this theory!BugsySig wrote:That was for The Valiant. Speaking of hints being dropped, Dinesh hasn't said anything about the 'Book of War' tease lately. Wonder if that one has been repurposed?

Shadowman reboot: writer poll
I wish I didn’t disagree with you guys, but there are some introconvertible facts here:
1) Jeff Lemire has like a zillion creator-owned and big-house plates spinning right now. Someone should compile a list.
2) He’s white and Canadian. Perhaps Valiant could be (should be?) gunning for Te-Nehisi Coates, or even Saladin Ahmed, if identity of the writer plays as much a part in the selection process as the writer’s pitch itself.
I would love to see Lemire write another Valiant title....if he wasn’t the writer (and occasionally artist!) on oodles of other books! I also believe that the Shadowman hip-hop one-shot is an indication that Valiant would like this title to appeal to a younger urban audience. I applaud that they have gotten women in on writing and editorial. I hope that Valiant has seen this as a time to add a high profile person of color to the writing stable as well, and to realize the potential expansion of readership that may bring.

Re: Shadowman reboot: writer poll
I don't think Coates would be the right choice -- he seems to really only have been a Marvel fan and primarily knows those characters. I'm also not sure he'd be a good fit for the supernatural element of Shadowman.

In fact, Lemire's number of titles has dropped by 50% since he recently canceled his gig at Marvel.AnarchoMambo wrote:I wish I didn’t disagree with you guys, but there are some introconvertible facts here:

Here's your list:
- Descender
- Royal City
- Bloodshot Salvation
- Sherlock Frankenstein and the Legion of Evil (Black Hammer related mini-series)
UPCOMING
- BH: Age of Doom (April 2018)
- another BH related mini-series (2018)
- The Terrifics (DC; February 2018 - mini-series?)

Shadowman reboot: writer poll
You make a very compelling case. But even though Moon Knight and Thanos and other Marvel work might be thing of the past, he will be starting some Hawkman stories, which is rumored to be continuing to series. And you mentioned the Terriffics for DC, but I think ultimately Mr Lemire is just trading Marvel for DC, and he will probably have 3-4 ongoing series with them in addition to his other creator-owned output. On the upside Hawkman could be tremendously popular under his direction, and could divert the gaze of more comic readers in Valiant’s direction should he get the flagship Shadowman. And of course he kicks butt as a writer. I am quite encouraged by your point-of-view.

Re: Shadowman reboot: writer poll
Oh, I forgot about the Metal tie-in Hawkman Found (one-shot) and the potential ongoing series, however, I don't think Lemire will be writing too many DC series in the near future. He said he quit Marvel to have more time for his creator-owned stuff. What would be the point of writing 3-4 DC series instead of 3-4 Marvel series then?

I really hope it will be Lemire on this book. With Greg Smallwood for the interior art. Their Moon Knight run at Marvel was really really great. Mind-blowing great.

Jeff Lemire was also supposed to release an ongoing from Image this year called Family Tree with Phil Hester...I don't know if Phil Hester drawing Shipwreck for Warren Ellis changes that..

Shadowman reboot: writer poll
But all this is not going to be a factor i think..I personally believe he has been writing Shadowman for a long while like he did with Bloodshot Reborn..In the case of Bloodshot reborn 10 issues were at least partially drawn before the book was officially announced...

It wouldn't be the first time Lemire is waiting for his artist of choice to become available again. Black Hammer was delayed by a year or so due to Ormston's brain injury.

Looks like there's a reason he quit working for Marvel. Here's the updated list:
ONGOING
- Descender
- Royal City
- Bloodshot Salvation
- Sherlock Frankenstein and the Legion of Evil (Black Hammer related mini-series)
UPCOMING
- Hawkman Found (one-shot/Metal tie-in) (DC, December)
- The Terrifics (DC; February 2018 - mini-series?)
- Gideon Falls (Image, March 2018)
- BH: Age of Doom (April 2018)
- another BH related mini-series (2018)
- Family Tree (Fall 2017 delayed)
- Hawkman ongoing series (rumored)
EDIT: it's the man, not the eye.

Re: Shadowman reboot: writer poll
Here's my argument for Lemire being able to... http://jefflemire.blogspot.com/2016/08/ ... ocess.html
man has a writing system down and he seems to be months (even a year) in advance of publishing schedule.
I loved Wrath of Eternal Warrior. If Venditti could repeat that approach with Shadowman and flesh out more of his version of deadside, I'm sold.

Re: Shadowman reboot: writer poll
I personally have thought Lemire is doing Shadowman next for the same reason as everyone else, and I'd love it, his supernatural/horror stuff in the past has been amazing. I do agree that a southern black man character probably deserves a more culturally appropriate creative team. I'm not aware of any black writers that have done any horror/voodoo/supernatural/fantasy work but I'm always interested in a more diverse team of creatives and I believe it's in VEI's best interest to diversify.AnarchoMambo wrote:I wish I didn’t disagree with you guys, but there are some introconvertible facts here:

Either way, I'll be hopeful and optimistic if it's a new and good writer, but if Lemire is confirmed I will be confident in the product from the start.
