Yeah, there are comic collectors who like Valiant who will spend $11,000 over a couple decades.
Then there are those who spend that much over lunch.

It is an amazing cover, but still...

Re: BWS Solar 9 Cover - $11,352
I was very surprised by the price, but the cover to a Weapon X issue went for $50K.
I think just about any nice cover from 1990s Solar would be worth $1K, so if we consider the BWS covers the best of the bunch and look at how much work went into #9, it's not too surprising that it's ten times the cost/value of a "common" Solar cover.
Maybe.

Still, really high. Twice the amount of some recent Pre-Unity classic covers.

Re: BWS Solar 9 Cover - $11,352
Yet, there it is.
Collectors paid $17,644 for a CGC 10.0 Wolverine #1 in 2016, and $15,449 for a CGC 10.0 New Mutants #98 in 2013.
There is WILD money out there, and for the right fan, with the right artist, and the right comic/art, logic does not matter.
I sold LaRosa's Ninjak #1 cover art for $3,600, and purchased Suayan's Bloodshot #1 cover for about the same. These might be viewed as insane for new VEI original art released after 2012, but for the buyer (and for me) it made perfect sense at the time
I certainly might pay $11,000 (if I had the extra funds at the time...) for a original BWS cover like Archer & Armstrong #0, #3, or #4; Solar Man of the Atom #3 or #5.

Would have been a great cover to have, but not for that kind of $$$.
Re: BWS Solar 9 Cover - $11,352
Yeah, I'd say the result for that cover has everything to do with BWS and much less to do with Valiant.
