X-O Manowar 1 Gold (2017)
Does anybody know the rarity of this book? I don't see it in the price guide. I just won a copy on eBay for $65. There are a few buy it now for between $100-$200 so it seemed like a good buy. Would this be a good candidate for CGC? The seller seemed to think it is 9.6+

I dunno if data will ever appear on this book. One dealer swears that its just as rare as the metal version, but I dunno. I do know that if you have a high grade copy, that it is worth slabbing. I intend to slab my copy.

Re: X-O Manowar 1 Gold (2017)
Cool. Was it printed at the same time as the regular #1? If it looks like he says then I'm gonna slab it. I just saw it start showing up on eBay.

Re: X-O Manowar 1 Gold (2017)
It was printed at the same time. Consistent with other gold books, the print run is at least 2000, nowhere near as rare as the 200 or so metal books.
The gold books typically sell for a high amount when they first come out, and then settle in the $40-60 range.

Re: X-O Manowar 1 Gold (2017)
Gold books are always in demand, as many collectors like to own at least one of each.
The print runs are in the 1000-2000 (estimated) range, but some (for whatever reason) simply do better on the market and command a higher value.
Ninjak #1 (LaRosa Gold) and Shadowman #1 (Zircher Gold) do very well, while some others are average.
It is too soon to say what will happen with X-O #1 (LaRosa Gold) but it is a visually appealing cover with a LOT of gold on it. Not sure how many have been (or will be) passed out, but there are two thoughts on it;
1.) that as many copies as possible will be passed out to fans. This will kill the value, but make the average collector very happy.
2.) that hardly any copies are passed out at all! This will create a ridiculously high market demand and make several collectors a quite happy, while also potentially frustrating others.
It's a balance mixed with a crapshoot.

Re: X-O Manowar 1 Gold (2017)
Thanks for the info. Are gold books dealer incentives or primarily handouts at conventions? I'm on a big X-O kick so I "had" to have it. There is a lot of gold thanks to the title letters being so big. I will slab. Y copy if it's as good as the seller says. What is the best way to submit to CGC if I'm not a member?

Re: X-O Manowar 1 Gold (2017)
They used to be dealer incentive, but most of the time that meant the dealer sold them to the fan for a chunk of money (vs just being handed out). Now, it's a Convention handout. Like it better this way, as you get to meet with the Valiant crew and talk a little with them.Summydad1 wrote:Thanks for the info. If you know someone, you could use their account info. If at a convention, many of the CGC reps have accounts already, and might do it (I've seen this happen a couple of times). I think for the bottom tier, it's free

Re: X-O Manowar 1 Gold (2017)
I imagine what you bought it for on eBay (I.e., the market) is a pretty good representation of what it's worth. Buy it now prices aren't a good representation of value until some actually buys it for that amount.

The first VEI gold ever (xo #1) was passed out to all the attendees at the panel at SDCc
Some where I have a pic of a young Dinesh holding up the books in the back of the room.
When I got mine, V-Ditti called me to the stage and first signed my book. It's one of my fondest comic related memories. Champs all around.
Pretty much ANY Valiant panel , you go. You get a gold book. Pretty much any show, you wear a valiant t shirt. You get a gold book
Gold books are for the fans.

Re: X-O Manowar 1 Gold (2017)
For the past two years, we have been fortunate to have a Valiant panel at Planet ComiCon in Kansas City, MO. VEI's Andy Liegl does a great job putting these together and each time my daughter and I have left with a Gold book.Elveen wrote:The first VEI gold ever (xo #1) was passed out to all the attendees at the panel at SDCc

I wonder if Valiant will come to any conventions in Florida? I'd like to meet some of the guys.
