Last week during a panel Marvel showed a slide with the word "King" on it.
Comic book geek that I am I thought it refered to Jack "the King" Kirby.
However, I got knocked off my *SQUEE* after reading "In the gutters" on Comicbookresources and this week's Friday instalments interview with Joe Quesada.

Stephen King

Without jumping to too many conclusions, I guess its fairly reliably. It will probably bee anounced next week in Chicago.
Will he be the next writer of Daredevil?!?

NRAMA: Your last slide of the presentation – “King.” As you’ve said, you’ve always wanted to get Stephen King writing for Marvel – is this, in fact, who the “King” refers to?

JQ: Huh, what? No, the slide was referring to the King of Spain wasn't it? We just wanted to make amends.

If Marvel gets Stephen King to write Daredevil, then I will be a first-time Daredevil "subscriber."

I was perfectly happy with everything BUT the last few pages of the last book of the Dark Tower series.

I am a King fan, I have enjoyed most of his works - you can't sway me.

So you didn't pick up the Bendis run? That was a consistently good read - I'd highly recommend it

No, sorry... only a few other comics (including most of the early Valiant line-up) besides Uncanny X-Men really "do it" for me. Daredevil (as well as Spider-Man, The Hulk, The Avengers, etc.) just wasn't my style. I've even tried getting into Superman and Batman, but they don't hold my interest for long. Now, Uncanny has been in the dumps for (it seems like) years, but since I have from #94 up to current, it's hard for me to stop buying it.

I am a HUGE Stephen King fan, so as long as he's (possibly) writing DD, I will pick it up.

So, I am as anxious as most of you to see new Valiant comics come out - it will mean something I can finally read and enjoy!

I was actually thinking of Lapham as well, though his DD/Punisher limited series is getting mixed reactions.

Steven King wrote a couple pages in a one-shot for Marvel. They released an XMen comic called "Heroes for Hope". I think it was used as a fund raiser for famine relief in the mid 80s. King's part was kind of creepy- if I can remember, he had Kitty Pryde suffering from famine and eating some rotten food. Granted, it wasn't a full comic, but if he wrote there, maybe he contributed again some other times. Needless to say, he has a realtionship with the company, even though it was almost twenty years ago. I would not be surprised if they tapped him as a writing resource.

Being a huge King fan myself I would definitely buy whatever book he gets to write and judge for myself if it was good or not.

This would be a huge event. I wouldn't be surprised to see Stephen King writing some comics, he has always been open to unusual delivery systems for his stories. He has experimented in many different ways already. The Green Mile was released in serial format, he has used the internet to release chapters of his books, he has co-authored novels with other writers and is a columnist for Entertainment Weekly.

Looking at all that do comics seem like a far stretch?
