Re: Russo Bros to Produce ‘Quantum and Woody’ TV Series
That's a good point, I'm sure there'll be some folk out there who probably wouldn't pick up a Q+W comic, or *any* comic, on a typical basis, but might be interested to see what the TV show is about. Hopefully that'll increase readership for VEI a bit if some of that happens.ShadowTuga wrote:I know right?Shadowman99 wrote:So what are the chances that Joe Public takes one look at Quantum's outfit and immediately dismiss the show as a poor man's/rip-off Deadpool? They have to put the superpowered KLANG stuff right upfront- start a teaser with that, so peeps won't have Wade on their minds when the mask pops up.
Honestly, if this is pulled in the right direction, it could be even better than the OG source. I may not like sillyness, for the most part, in my books, but TV is another animal: I watch freaking Supergirl, and last time I checked, I did not worry about my menstrual cycle to begin soon (not being a misogynist turd, just saying "jokingkly" that I'm not the demographic for this show, but since it has Super-something, I'm in, even though I would never pick a solo Supergirl comic. Ever.)
What I mean is that I'll be more open-minded and optimistic for a Q&W TV show, than a new comic from these 2.
On the flipside of my comment, how many people will make the immediate comparison and then check out Q+W based on the similarity with the Deadpool costume? Would be interesting to know, if only it could

Hey DBS, nice reply to that Delta Bravo Trey over at CBSI. I Have no idea why he doesn't want to spec on something that makes money. I know I've already flipped a few Q&W since the new's broke. There seem's to be no logical reason for his hate toward's Valiant. It's like Dinesh stole his girlfriend or something.

The asking prices for Q&W (and really all Valiants) on eBay are certainly heading higher. Valiant has a good headwind of buzz right now. Not sure why CBSI doesn't want in on that.

Because they don't have access to any supply. You don't "pump and dump" things you don't have and can't get.possumgrease wrote:The asking prices for Q&W (and really all Valiants) on eBay are certainly heading higher. I had been casually looking at getting those earlier Q&W appearances as part of filling in some key Acclaim gaps in my collection... Looks like I waited too long and won't be getting them any time soon now. Wow!

I just picked up QW #0... and with that, my run is complete.
Over at Midtown, a NM QW #1 cover B (painted) is going for $102.

I paid about $17 with shipping which is probably too much, but I just wanted it out of the way just in case things get silly.

I hear ya! I got lucky with the $ of the #0, but I'm still kicking myself for something I didn't do about a week ago. I saw 2 Q&W #1s for sale for just over the original cover price--and described as NM--on Comic Collector Live. Like a g*ddamned idiot, I put them in my shopping cart but took them back out because I already owned a few (though not in "NM") and there was a big bunch of Conans also in the cart. The next day, I changed my mind, went back, and looked for the #1s, but of course...c'est la vie!
It wasn't but a few days later that I caught the
of the TV show announcement, and...

The irony is last week I bought a full run of Q&W for $12.99. Crazy.

DBS just made a ridiculous post somewhat mocking the CBSI site and their anti-Valiant slant. It was quite humorous.Dallow Spicer1 wrote:Trey is so irrationally anti-Valiant it's ridiculous!! Re: Russo Bros to Produce ‘Quantum and Woody’ TV Series
Here is the deal.
If you can buy something for $5 and down the road sell it for $50, that is a REALLY good investment.
It shouldn't matter if it is a comic book, vintage tshirt, or abstract painting as positive gains are a good thing (and I suspect the very premise of a "speculation" group).
The problem is that other factors (including bias) exist in most speculator groups. It's NOT just about money; it's about the social dynamic of those group. Some members are easily influenced by vocal and/or personalities, and might avoid investing in promising things to avoid going against the grain or the group's beliefs.
See, I suspect that most members of CBSI 100% DO want to make good money; however, they ALSO would prefer to do with with books that the group re-enforces socially. It's MORE fun to discuss the "risk" you are taking when the majority of the group supports that same move.
Trey says that his source told him that Valiant films and/or funding is a sham, and a publicity stunt. He has chosen to double down on his belief in this, and is not budging.
I trust what I see and what I know. I too have sources, and they have told me things that have come to pass. Over, and over, and over again. My sources disagree with Trey's sources, so we can only agree to disagree.
One of us will be right.

I think the best plausible result of a Q&W television show is that existing comic readers decide to check out more VEI books. I think there's a good possibility that a decent show will increase Valiant sales linewide, especially amongst people speculating on the next licensed product.Shadowman99 wrote:That's a good point, I'm sure there'll be some folk out there who probably wouldn't pick up a Q+W comic, or *any* comic, on a typical basis, but might be interested to see what the TV show is about. A bit off-topic, but the splash spread in issue #2 (original series) may be the best joke I've ever seen that utilizes the comic art form and comic culture. Would love love love to own that original art.
