New Doctor Solar origin by Jim Shooter
The Dark-Key line was disappointing to be sure, but the new Doctor Solar origin scripted by Jim Shooter for Doctor Solar 5-8 I thought was brilliant. I'm thinking a lot of folks gave up on this line without reading those issues. Thoughts?

I liked it the first time I read it, when it was Solar Man of the Atom 0.

Fair enough. Nevertheless, it's a brilliant new origin by Shooter written for a different Solar publisher, and I think over time it'll be viewed as important to the Doctor Solar legacy. Did you read it, Chiclo?

That was the last time I went to San Diego and literally on my way out the door I grabbed one of those SDCC Dark Key books. There was a whole pile of them, I should have gotten them all.

I actually just re-read them back a few months ago - it was interesting - but overshadowed by some of the painful garbage in the mess before them.

When I think back to the dark-key line, the best story was the origin Solar story. The Turok, Magnus and other Solar stories were average at best. I did like Mighty Samson
