Third relaunch since 2013 acquisition of Gold Key by Dynamite!...that bout says it all.
No word on whether this is a one shot, mini, continuing or what...typical Dynamite! They probably don't know themselves.

Don't know if you missed the last part.
This relaunch comes in light of Comcast taking ownership of the Gold Key characters through NBCUniversal's purchase of DreamWorks.
Looks like Valiant still won't be doing gold key characters.

Divinity and Myshka are both Solar and Erica level.
Savage gets to kill dinosaurs.
Rai slices up robots and teams up with others that may be sentient.
What would we gain from Gold Key at this point?

Holy *SQUEE*, even the cover is a Valiant-rip off in design.
*SQUEE* Dynamite in their stupid money-grabbing's *SQUEE*.
Disgusting.

I caught that, but it's old news at this point (like 2 or 3 years since Dreamworks purchased Classic Media), and now that they are corporately owned, there is ZERO chance of ever coming to VALIANT.nonplayer wrote:Don't know if you missed the last part.

I also noted the VEI trade dress rip off...never ceases to amaze me what Dynamite! will stoop to.

May not be a need in your mind. But Turok still rocks for me that is when he's actuelly done right and that would be the only reasion I'd want Valiant to do gold key.greg wrote:No need.nonplayer wrote:Looks like Valiant still won't be doing gold key characters.

Personally, I'd like to see them back with Valiant so that we could maybe get some nice collected editions. Perhaps with some unreleased content à la the Ennis/Wood Shadowman trade?greg wrote:No need.nonplayer wrote:Looks like Valiant still won't be doing gold key characters.

Maybe Universal can make a Gold Key Cinematic Universe which would might be better, than the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe, which will be crap because it be heading up by the worst writers in Hollywood Orci and Kurtzman.nonplayer wrote:Don't know if you missed the last part.

Re: The Sovereigns Unites Gold Key Heroes (again) at Dynamit
I will slog through it. Again.
By this point, I don't at all think that any of the characters will ever really make it back to Valiant. Not sure how I really feel about that.
Except that every time I talk with someone 'in the know' about this, I always receive the same response.
Valiant will only include them if they can own them.
AND
Solar was Dinesh's favorite.
Those two facts make me 99 percent sure - NOT 100 - that Gold Key characters will not make it back.

With the Valiant-original characters on the rise and the star of the Gold Key characters fading, I think that Valiant does not need the Gold Key characters, at least in the medium-to-long term and taking them on any time in the near future will bring unwanted baggage with them.

That's a good point.Chiclo wrote:With the Valiant-original characters on the rise and the star of the Gold Key characters fading, I think that Valiant does not need the Gold Key characters, at least in the medium-to-long term and taking them on any time in the near future will bring unwanted baggage with them.
Prior to 2010, the only Solar, Magnus, and Turok concepts were either Gold Key or Valiant, with everyone recognizing those characters as Valiant most recently.
Since 2010, we've had Solar, Magnus, and Turok from Dark Horse, then Dynamite, then Dynamite reboot again... then Dynamite reboot again(?)...
That's a bunch of ex-wives that Valiant doesn't need in its current marriage of classic Valiant with new Valiant.

If anyone needs a good laugh Newsarama has a new interview about the new Magnus title. The funny part is all the pictures are credited to Valiant.

It's pretty clear they're also stealing H.G. Wells from Warehouse 13 as the new "Magnus".

There's a good chance this will suck because Dynamite typically (for lack of a better word) sucks.

That mistake is funny for us (because we know Dynamite is ripping off VEI trade dress), good for Dynamite (because some dummies might actually buy it thinking it's produced by VALIANT), and bad for VEI (because it's likely a pile of crap and we don't want that associated with VALIANT).dornwolf wrote:If anyone needs a good laugh Newsarama has a new interview about the new Magnus title.
