April '17 - A Five Title Month??
I was just doing a review of what we should expect in April:
Britannia II
Faith #10
Gen Zero #9 (maybe?)
Ninjak #26
X-O Manowar #2
With Divinity III just ending the month before, and Harbinger Renegade on hold till July, it seems the month is going to be a sparse one! Or can we expect some surprises in the next couple of weeks before solicits hit?

I bet there will be some surprises. Maybe the return of Imperium or Quantum & Woody?

Re: April '17 - A Five Title Month??
Damn, I hope not. That would seem like really poor planning on VEI's part.
The FCBD teaser also mentioned Psi-Lords, Secret Weapons, War Mother and Shadowman. It'd be nice to get some odd those in April...but maybe not, since they're touting the XO Wednesdays as series jumping on points each month...

I have to say I'm digging the constant rotation of minis. I'd probably feel different if it was a single character mini over and over (e.g. the way IDW constantly pushes out new #1s).

I don't mind having a third or so of the titles being rotating minis, but I wish the ongoing titles could stop rotating so much and just hold longer in place.Sunlight on Snow wrote:+1nycjadie wrote:I have to say I'm digging the constant rotation of minis.

I think the threat of the Cornermen in Generation Zero might mean that we'll need some kind of heroes to keep the Cornermen in check. They could be Trinity Angles.jeremycoe wrote:I think we'll see Bad Eggs and Trinity Angels

Re: April '17 - A Five Title Month??
With the news of Immortal Brothers: The Tale of the Green Knight #1 we could see 6 titles in April - fingers crossed for another title, 6 seems low...
Britannia II #1
Faith #10
Gen Zero #9 (if the current arc is 4 issues, this be the last issue)
Immortal Brothers: The Tale of the Green Knight #1
Ninjak #26
X-O Manowar #2
From this list I'll only be picking up Ninjak.

It's pretty cool Ninjak will be continued beyond its 25th issue by the way. It's only the 2nd series doing so. Before the release of the first issue I would have never thought it would last for so long albeit Ninjak being a fan favorite. Kudos to Matt Kindt for secretly becoming Valiant's #1 writer!Bl00dsh0t wrote:With the news of Immortal Brothers: The Tale of the Green Knight #1 we could see 6 titles in April - fingers crossed for another title, 6 seems low...

Re: April '17 - A Five Title Month??
This posits the question: which will be the classic Valiant inspirartions for the three further (double-sized) one shots? VEI news are forthcoming I guess.
Some ideas :
a- another period piece: FVL's seems to feature a Geomancer but there are other lineages in the VEI: the previous Shadowman, Gilad's children, namely Xaran and Mitu, Sai on Future Earth, an Unit before Y and, my favorite, a PSI-Lords redux.
b- an own odd locale description: such The Faraway, the Deadside/Lyceaum or the Vine Colony on Mars... I would go for the first one "geopolitics", reinforcing its 'lost land' status; it is a cornucopia of classic story elements plus new additions such as Savage.
c- a revival of an unused original valiant trademark: such as The Visitor, the Outcast or Secret Weapons (although I would rather a revival of classic Valiant most missed villains, MotherGod and Dr Eclipse)

I'm "Facebook friends" with Mr. Kindt since he was announce as the writer for Bloodshot #0, his very first VEI book. I kinda reviewed it, here:Sunlight on Snow wrote:It's pretty cool Ninjak will be continued beyond its 25th issue by the way. It's only the 2nd series doing so. After that, I sent him a message "welcoming" the man to our family. He bothered to thank me, great dude.
Now, as for him being the main VEI man:
in 2012, we had Venditti, Dysart, Van Lente (and Jordan) as the architects of the universe. Everything started with these 3 gentlemen (and Justin, again), and I felt at the time that it was really cool to have these writers going to summits and discussing events and crossovers that would feel organic to the line. Multiple ideas and all that.
Then Matt Kindt arrived and basically, VEI gave him the keys to the universe: he's the guy who fleshed out 4001 for real (not Pak, please) with Rai, gave us a superb and very non-Bats Ninjak ongoing, all the Divinities, etc. One man's vision for the entire Universe.
He's the current #1 VEI writer right now - no current Venditti, no current Dysart, FVL is tied to a very bleh series, IMHO, etc.

These should be in multiple volumes with each volume focusing on just 1 Bad Egg and 1 of the angels (i.e. Bag Egg I, Bad Egg II, . . . Trinity Angel I, Trinity Angel II, . . . ). Stories were more compressed in the 90s and modern storytelling is now more de-compressed.jeremycoe wrote:I think we'll see Bad Eggs and Trinity Angels
