To this day, Justin Jordan holds the honor of the best VEI story ever written in Shadowman 0/10. There just hasn't been anything close since. Not that VEI isn't good now (or at least a year ago when I fell behind), but nothing has been as good as that was.

Book of Death: Harbinger surpasses those IMHO.

I'm going to post the unpopular opinion that I really didn't like that Book of Death: Harbinger story. Only BoD story I didn't like.

Almost +1...I thought BOD Harby was decent but BOD Bloodshot was far better!

Shadowman 0 and 10 were excellent but the rest of the run wasn't great.

I'd like to see more varied writers coming in. I'm glad Kindt is on XO but id like a new writer on Ninjak as the last couple of arcs have been mediocre.

It was okay. I had no idea people thought it was the best. BOD books were the last things I read in continuity. I've read some Divinity and such out of order, but otherwise haven't read anything except Chew, EoW, and Revival.

I liked it (BoD Harbinger) but the art was a bit off.
Ninjak's BoD was my favourite.

BoD Bloodshot was better for Easter eggs, Ninjak and XO were cool glimpses into those character's futures, but for a stand-alone story Harvey was top notch.

I think that Ninjak's demise and that last stand against Nu Japan with samurai Ginnie was something epic. I love that issue, and it's not only my fav Ninjak story so far, but one of the best comics VEI has produced IMHO.
Harby, aside the art, was good. I liked it, had some very heart-warming moments, specially the surviving Renegades all gathered. I still don't get what really happened at the end with Pete and Toyo- they merged or something?

Now I think about it, I reckon the BoD:H issue was better than any other BoD one-shot issue. Definitely larger in scope than any of the other comics. Personally, I thought the BoD:XO issue was really good despite no-one having mentioned it yet, but I think BoD:H was much grander in scope than the others.

Top three VEI comics to date are definitely Shadowman 0/10 and BoD:H
