Re: 4001 AD #4 Discussion
Sounds about right. I might swap Harbinger Wars and 4001 though. Interesting that the best and worst was written by the same guy.Dallow Spicer1 wrote: In terms of events I'd go...
Armor Hunters
Harbinger Wars
4001ad (one shots not as good as BOD though)
Big gap...
The Valiant (issue #3 - worst issue ever)
Bit more of a gap.....
Book of Death (although the one shots were superb!)

Re: 4001 AD #4 Discussion
For me the art on the BOD was just not good enough for a book of that profile and didn't suit the storyline. If a better and more suitable artist was used then I might have felt differently about BOD and might have enjoyed the story more, however, I was distracted the whole way through by the art.jmatt wrote:Sounds about right. Ooh, if we're doing event lists, here's mine:
Armor Hunters
4001 AD
Book of Death
Harbinger Wars
The Valiant
I actually thought 4001 was a pretty solid event overall, with the only real weakness being the Shadowman tie-in, and even then the problem was more it being completely pointless than anything else.
And I'll be honest, The Valiant is on the bottom more because of what it did to Bloodshot and Kay than anything else (even though #3 was pretty bad). Bloodshot Reborn doesn't necessarily suck, but I wouldn't say it was worth it.

Not sure how to judge it as an event, but damn it increased my love of VEI's 4001 exponentially.
Especially the shot of Rai and the Future Force near the end.
Come on. That's what we're calling them, RIGHT?!

Couldn't agree more.mateo107 wrote:well, I thought as an event 4001 was kind of underwhelming.
2 pages of recap, then 6 pages wrapping up the final battle. The rest of the issue was an epilogue.
Rai just beats Father by hitting him with his sword. It wasn't a memorable fight, there wasn't any plan, strategy, or defining moment to it.
Did Eternal Warrior even need to be there for any reason? Same for Sunlight on Snow.
We never even saw any of the characters from the one-shots.
All the questions from before this series are still unanswered.
It set up a new scenario for 4002, but all it did was move pieces around. It didn't really feel like there was any payoff to reading it.
Very underwhelming.
I found it way too convenient that Father fashioned a physical body for himself toward the end of this story just so that Rai could use his sword on him.

Favorite books: Black Hammer, Bloodshot, Divinity, Justice League Dark, Marvel Two-In-One, Thor.

Well, to be fair, Rai XI (X-Eye) first appeared in April of 2015. That is who Father took over for the final battle (yes?)Big Red wrote:I found it way too convenient that Father fashioned a physical body for himself toward the end of this story just so that Rai could use his sword on him.
