I would like to hire Rags at his home for $500 for one hour with a sketchpad in front of him making Valiant characters for one hour... five minute sketches... rough lines etc... real art-stuff. I expect 8 pieces.

I then intend to make prints #ed to what- 20? Then having Rags sign the prints, then sell the #ed prints etc...

The originals... I really don't know what to do with them; I don't want them, I just want this to happen.

They could be sold, preferably as a set in a notebook, to one high bidder on this site. 50% of the $$$ goes to Rags, the high bidder owns all the originals, the rest of you have signed Rags stuff... pure Rags. And it exists.

Well???

Well if you collected all the images in a book, and put in one original sketch per book.
It would be a limited set of prints with original sketch.

Its clearer to me now, than the PM. :thumb:

Eight sets of eight pieces with one original, all signed.

How much per set? I make nothing out of this... you guys figure it out.

I'd say put one sketch and the 8 prints as a combo. Auction them off one a day and start the bidding on each sketch + prints at $63. $63x8 = $504, assuming they all sell. Most artists charge $50/sketch at shows. Rags is pretty special though. If he did a badass Ninjak or Divinity, who knows, maybe you get a $300 bid on one. They'd almost certainly all sell. You could 25 numbered sets of prints in total, depending on what they cost to make, $25/set =$625, $50 = $1250.

I don't really collect sketches but I'm interested to see where this goes. :hm:

Love Rags. In fact, he's the guy who tipped me off to VEI reviving the universe back in March of 2012, when I met him at a local con. Dude signed like 25 books for me that day.

I like it when I give the artist free reign on the sketch. I say, I like Ivar, are you interested in drawing him? Have free reign, have fun with it. I tend to find the artist has a bit more fun with the sketch, and it shows.

I'm totally in.

I am not sure if 8 total sets is enough given the demand. How about this . . .

- 8 "limited" print sets, each with 1 original sketch plus 8 prints.
- xx print sets with a complete set of the 8 prints.

Charge more for the limited sets and less for the print sets.

What kind of sketches do you want Rags to do? I would like to see him work on characters he worked on like Geomancer and Turok. Also he did the cover for the Invasion TPB (Magnus/Rai cover) and I would love to see him do Rai again.

One of my favorite signed books . . .

Magnus Robot Fighter Invasion TPB. Signed by Rags Morales, Jim Shooter. Signed at the 2008 Baltimore Comic-Con.

I will give Rags a few days then contact him.

I think 8 sketches in an hour is the best call.

Pay him $400 for an hour? Then make prints and have him sign them?

The prints would cost $50 each... and with prints, they'd be $60 or more with all that shipping back and forth etc...

I am surprised you guys remember Rags.

Rags was kind of off-putting me, not remembering me of Valiant, stating "I've been working non-stop since '89."

Thoughts? Once again, I want nothing from this, just to see it exist.

This might be a no-go. He said he was under deadlines and to respect his timetable... he has become one of them.

Sorry this didn't work our. But I'm sure there's an opportunity out there to do something similar with another artist.

One of whom? He's got a job/responsibilities. It would have been cool if it worked out, but I don't blame him.

Maybe, not speaking for someone else, just suggesting ~ that he means someone who has forgotten him from the past. Not even acknowledging who he is. :?

Anyway, lets move one ~ its no one ones fault this is not going ahead. Lets see it may pan out still. :hope:
