Next Week is Moon Knight Week!
Well, for me, thats a great thing! Next week sees the release of Kirkman's masterpeice Marvel Team Up #10 (which I dub the best Marvel book of the year):D as well as Ultimate Spider-Man #79 Which sees the debut of the Ultimate Moon Knight! I have no idea if UMK will be any good, but it can't hurt to try. Its also the start of a new story ark, so people wanting to jump in on USM, this might be the time

Well, in MTU #7 spider-man and Moon Knight teamed up to take out this one guy who got access to the cosmic cube. At the end of the issue, he used the cube and his will power to make spideys costume explosive. The issue ended with a large Boom. Kirkmans round about style used issues 8 and 9 to tell the tales of several other heroes (8 had punisher and blade, 8 had Cage, Daredevil, black cat, and sleepwalker). At various points through their story the massive explosion occered in close proximity, often effecting the relating stories. It is to my assumption that issue 10 will go back to the Moon Knight/Spider-man story for the aftermath.
heres the cover!

He's always been a cool looking character and I love the early appearances in Werewolf by Night - it's more a matter of creating consistent, well-written stories and building the fan base. I'll be reading....

Well, if were talking stories in which he has a part in the plot, then Marvel Team Up is it, for the regular Marvel U. Last year he appeared in the pannels of the Avengers dissasembled storyline (along with other previous avengers members), as well as in a Captain America (in a random, but fun pannel) written by Kirkman. Both of which were because both Bendis, Kirkman (and even avengers artist Finch) are big Moon Knight Fansspeedracex wrote:I know recently Moon Knight has returned in some issues since his last series ended years ago, what books did he start reappearing in? or was it just the recent MTU's??

But Quesada has mentioned progress is afoot for a 06 Moon Knight series. He never stated if it was an ongoing or mini (either make me happy) but he mentioned the first few issues have already been written, and a top 10 artist has signed on for the job!

What's the chronlogy of Moon Knight minis post-Marc Spector 60 ("death")?
I have the first issue of a later 4-issue mini that might have been done by Texeira (??) Remember it is as being very good. Did you like this mini? Were there any others?
As for Marc Spector--which issues/story arcs would you recommend? I've read the 4-part Punisher/Spidey one in 19-23 & the Stephen Platt 55-60.
Also, any recommended early stories other than WbN appearances and Peter Parker 22-24?

There were two mini series Post the death in MS MK #60. Both were written by Moon Knight Creator Doug Moench.Rai-fan wrote:What's the chronlogy of Moon Knight minis post-Marc Spector 60 ("death")?

The first was a 4 part called "Ressurection War" (arc title NOT on cover). This, in my opinion was very good. HOWEVER, it is VERY dependant on the readers having read the original Moon Knight series, and hating the last half of the MS MK series. Pencils by Tommy Lee Edwards. This story was Moenchs way of saying the last 25 or so issues of MS Mk sucked, and shouldn't have happened (and may not of

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed alot of the MS Mk Run, untill the last 15 or so issues ( Oh, and I HATED the blood brothers story.)
The first 30 or so issues is some pretty good reading. But the best of the best are:
MS MK #26-31 Scarlet Redemption (this is the best story in the entire MS MK run, Period. Make sure you know who stained glass scarlet is first though. Read MK vol. 1 #14 and #24)
MS MK #15-18 Trial of Marc Spector. A fun story.
The second mini was a 4 part mini called High Strangers that was illustrated by Mark Texiera. This was a truer to form Moon Knight story much like the original series presented in the early 80's.
After that, Moon Knight joined a short lived team called the "Marvel Knights" This series lasted about 13-15 issues, and Moon Knight joined half-way in. The team featured Daredevil, Cage, Punisher, Cloak and Dagger, etc. The storys were ok, nothing special. The team disbanded towards the end of the series, and Moon Knight allegedly was bankrupt, so he gave up his life as a superhero. That pretty much puts Moon Knight where he is now.
Events in Avengers dissasembled, and other random comics show Moon Knight, in costume, ready to fight crime. With his new series coming in "06, well see.
I hate his ultimate Costume. Bendis claimed he still had the hood and wore it often. I have yet to see it up. Most of the ultimatized costumes worked...this one I think lost the soul of the original. But whether or not its white or black in the ultimate verse is kinda irrelevant to me. Because After all, the orignal Moon Knight IS Moon Knight to me.speedracex wrote:so i read the newest issue of ult spider-man, and spidey said Moon Knights costume was white, after everyone said in a thread it was actually black, what do you think about this???

I'm very split on Platts work. I think some of the aspects of his artwork was absolutley great. However, I think it severley lacked in others. His Layouts left alot to be desired (too many standing in a dynamic pose pannels), and he had nothing to differentiate the way each of his characters looked. All the women and men looked identicle except for hair color (or costume). Alot of artists of the early 90's had this same problem.Vault-Keeper wrote:While I agree that the stories got worse as the MS MK series progressed, I still LOVE the artwork that Stephen Platt did on the last issues! Amazing work, IMO.---Steve

Hmm...think I did read part of "The Trial of Marc Spektor"--is that the one where Spidey & the Punisher guest-star (somewhere in the 18-23 range)?
I'm really interested in finding good early (pre-1985) Moon Knight guest shots (ie, not counting his 1st series).
First time I ever encountered Moon Knight was Spectacular Spiderman # 23--thought he was great! Aside from that storyline, where else did he appear other than WbN?

Pre vol.1 {1980} apps
Marvel Spotlight 28, 29
Defenders 47-51
Spectacular Spider-Man
Apps during Vol.1 {pre 85}
Hulk Magazine (some of the best MK stuff ever! reprinted in Moon Knight Special Editions 1-3) 11-20 (sans 16&19)
Amazing Spider-Man 220
Iron Man 161
Avengers 211
Power Man and Iron Fist 87,88 (I think, can't remember the date on this one. Could be post 1985)
The trial of Marc Spector did not have Punisher or Spider-Man as guest stars. This story was where Spector returned to the countries to be tried for his crimes as a mercenary. It was one of the only times Spectors past pre-MK was ever seen. Great covers!
