The Delinquents: A Beginner’s Guide to the Valiant Universe

Post by DuncanBlieu »

I'm pretty new with posting to the boards, so I'm not sure if anyone has already posted about the column that Comics Alliance has been doing to help get new readers into Valiant: The Delinquents: A Beginner’s Guide to the Valiant Universe. I highly recommend checking out what they have covered so far if you get a chance. They are working their way through various titles seeing how they are viewed from an unfamiliar reader's viewpoint and how to approach getting the right titles into new hands. Here's the links for anyone interested:

http://comicsalliance.com/beginners-gui ... armstrong/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://comicsalliance.com/beginners-gui ... imewalker/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

These links are in chronological order, so it's recommended to read in that order to see the progression of a new reader's introduction to the Valiant universe. Definitely worthwhile reads. :)

Would love to hear what people's thoughts are about these articles!

UPDATE:
Here's the latest installment. I don't think people will be too surprised about the reader's impression of Unity, but I was caught a little off guard about what they thought about Divinity. Still worth a read!

Good honest articles with a personal touch. I think they will help new readers a lot. A detail that bothers me a bit is that the flaws of the Harbinger kids are described as a turn-off for the series. For me it was a strength of the series that the kids were not heroes. But that's just a personal view and the articles describe it as such. In short, thanks for the links, I enjoyed them.

really bad criticism tbh, especially when they basically judged torque by how well he fits their personal ideal for a disabled character rather than actually trying to understand him.
