Re: DEATHMATE is coming
I've got a feeling that the tweet at Image was just a red herring. No word from Image about anything, right?

I guess we will finally find out why we should be afraid of Sting.

Re: DEATHMATE is coming
as i posted on the Valiant Facebook, I reckon this will be one of two things
1/ a crossover between current day valiant and 4001 AD valiant.
2/ a brand new character spinning out of 4001 AD called Deathmate.
(NB Deathmate is a trademark solely owned by Valiant, I doubt they would use it in a crossover with another company)

Nah. Deathmate will be the story of the father who impregnated Vincent van Goat.Paul Nolan wrote:as i posted on the Valiant Facebook, I reckon this will be one of two things

It'll be a crossover with Aspen Comics. Those hotties from Michael Turner sell comics quite well to horny 13 year olds; a marketing and sales demographic that Imperium and Wrath of the Eternal Warrior have yet to tap-into!

With Jeremy on this one. I think the @imagecomics twitter thing is just to throw people off the scent.jeremycoe wrote:I seriously doubt it's even a crossover. And if it is, I would be even more surprised if Image is involved. I think it's an event only featuring VEI characters.
I think it's going to be a lot like Unity in that the original title is being used to catch media attention, but the actual story is going to be something totally unlike the original. Don't think a crossover with any company is likely.

I agree and I hope we are correct. Let's see if VEI can polish a turd.Shadowman99 wrote:With Jeremy on this one. Re: DEATHMATE is coming
This is the only VEI teaser that instantly made me think, 'why the hell would they do that?' Deathmate isn't exactly remembered fondly, so why would you want to reference it to jump start interest?

Re: DEATHMATE is coming
It's the crossover that essentially was the first mortal blow to the company. If they can take that and turn it into something good, that's a huge feather in their cap. The publicity of this currently is "WTF?!", which will work for making people interested and also set their expectations low. Then VEI makes something that people like, and it will be an automatic critical success.magnusr wrote:Maybe they think that any publicity is good publicity?Dr Noel wrote:This is the only VEI teaser that instantly made me think, 'why the hell would they do that?' Smart strategy, really. Risky and daring. It depends heavily on their competency. I think it'll work.

Re: DEATHMATE is coming
Haha, you ever looked inside one of those comics? Always looks like someone puked on the page in the studio and submitted it to print. I bet 90% of Aspen's art budget goes on cover art, because that's all they've got going for them.DirtbagSailor wrote:It'll be a crossover with Aspen Comics. Re: DEATHMATE is coming
Solar from Valiant (the version seen leaving in Rai #0) and Void from Image meet in some random dimension, feel sexy to each other, and get it on as godlike beings are wont to do. Because of their crazy godlikness, this somehow merges the Valiant Universe with the shared heroes Universe Image was publishing in their early days.Brother Darque wrote:What was the old Deathmate about?
There was a prologue, then the two companies each put out two books, and then an epilogue to close it off. I really don't recall the stories too well, just that Valiant got their books out on time with decent stories and their usual art style at the time, while Image shipped late and had nonsense stories and (mostly) pretty art. I think Geoff the Geomancer and Prophet were the only ones that knew they were in this altered reality and were trying to separate them before something bad happened... that that whole deal. I think there was something about Grifter chasing Archer, and in turn was being chased by Shadowman. That and Bloodshot being apart of Youngblood.
Good Morning, that's a nice tnetennba.

Well, it sounds like a female IS involved

Alone, listless, breakfast table in an otherwise empty room.
