I thought this issue was the strongest of the arc, and the ending was really well done. Really stokes the fire for Labyrinth!
Good Morning, that's a nice tnetennba.

This was favorite, out of the first four issues. It's been a slow burn, but this issue had me hooked from the first page, to the last. Emotionally heavy throughout, a great battle scene, (Gillad with the axe, inflamed.) and mysterious cliffhanger. Nice way to end the arc. :thumb:

This was my favorite issue of EW period. Awesome arc, the next one looks killer. Such a great concept. It's like CUBE meets HIGHLANDER.

I kind of wish the art depicting the Deadside or Hell or wherever was more elaborate, everything looks kind of generic; but I guess they can't go full horror mode with these.

Gilad is in the clutches of the Eternal Enemy! Awesome!!

Now, how does this resolve with the other uses of the name already in VEI continuity? I need to re-read the A&A arc again.

Thanks, I didn't catch the eye colors on the Sovereign.

I'm a little intrigued by the incantation to open the Iron Door. "First of the protectors of Earth". Not the protector of Earth. The first. :hm:

Keeping with my LOTR comparison in an earlier thread, Humongous looks like a cross between Treebeard and the Balrog.

And I guess in the Eternal Warrior's version of paradise, firearms and grenades are standard issue.

It's a pretty subtle colouring job, it blends into the overall tone of the whole page. I only thought of it after the fact and had to go back and check to see if that character had dual coloured eyes.

In retrospect, knowing what the next story arc focuses on makes it seem pretty obvious that this guy might be the Eternal Enemy.

I will say this, Chris dropped a pretty massive Crazy Theory in this weeks VCR episode that ties events in both Eternal Warrior 4 & Imperium 13 together in a fascinating manner...

Yeah, I listened. An interesting idea but call me skeptical.

Here's my Crazy Theory: Gilad awoke in 4001. Just in time for this summer's event.

If Gilad did wake up in 4001 that would mean he's been "dead" for around 2000 years, right? So that would take him out of any story lines during that period unless at the end of 4001AD Ivar or someone takes him back to around the time of the end of BoD. I'm thinking it's more likely that this takes place somewhere in the present.

Perhaps we're about to learn that his re-spawn point can be manipulated somehow. And if he is indeed in 4001 that would be proof of it. So there's nothing stopping him from being re-spawned back in the current timeline after the 4001 event.

But then that would mean he could be time-travelled via his netherworld paradise. I say 'travelled' because he's not the one controlling the travelling.

That would be a pretty new, and large, wrinkle in the character. Not sure how I would feel about something like that.

This actually smells like VH1 Unity. Weren't there two Gilad's in Unity? And then Solar returns everyone to their proper timeline... :hm:

Great ending to the arc! I really think this has been the best issue so far. Did this issue reveal where the tension between Kalam and Gilad comes from, or did we already know that aspect of his backstory? Do we know who raised Kalam?

It was a good ending to a rather blah issues #2-3.
I hope Labyrinth proves to be the EW I deserve, not the one I get.

Finally.
Now, let's see what this series can really bring to the table. Good twist at the end. But, boy, 1-3 was boring, this was a tad better with the BIG plus that we finally go to some place new (as in, "what could happen??" 8-) )
