Magnus VS. Predator TPB
Was finally able to secure a copy for $25.
Been looking for one for years for the right price.
Looks like the price guide has it for $80-100
Anyone else has it?
At what price did you pay?
Why is it the a TPB can be worth so much?
The V.V.S.S. are really hard to find for a good price.

Awesome price!
I guess there weren't many printed, only 3500 if I recall. I have a couple, I think I paid around thirty and around 45-50. There was also one that was in a lot with some random tpbs I had no interest in that went for super cheap because it was poorly listed on eBay, that one may have actually been a profit after I offloaded the remainder.

I've got the individual issues, not the TPB. Great story!

Re: Magnus VS. Predator TPB
The trade is worth so much because so few were made. Why were so few made? There were lots of unsold single issues of #1 and #2, probably cheaper than the trade itself. Like $1 single cheeseburgers with an option for a $4 double-cheeseburger. No one wanted to order the trade.

Good deal. Definitely a hard book to find for a decent price.

I have had the good fortune of finding two of these trades in the wild. I paid $30.00 for my last one, but the first one I found, I scooped it up for $4.00.

The TPB also has that amazing Dave Dorman cover. Dorman collectors covet the TPB as well.

Very good point. I love that cover.nycjadie wrote:The TPB also has that amazing Dave Dorman cover. Dorman collectors covet the TPB as well.

Re: Magnus VS. Predator TPB
Also, I think part of it could be that crossovers typically get reprinted once in a TPB and never again. The TPBs for the Amalgam (Marvel/DC) crossover go for 40 bucks and up. Marvel and DC worked together for that event, made their TPBs and it's done. They don't want to go back to it and reprint it again and again. Obviously the original Valiant/Magnus rights no longer exist anyway, too.

I've had multiple copies...all found in the wild, never paid more than $5...still have at least 2 copies stashed away somewhere

The blue variant tpbs aren't second prints, they're variants from the distributors, Diamond or Cap City, I can't remember who sponsored them initially actually.OhioValiantNut wrote:This book is next up on my radar ... just snagged a 2nd print Rai trade (the blue one) for $16 ...
As far as the Predator v. Magnus tpb, it's far and away better than just having the two single issues, that Dave Dorman cover is superb! I've owned around a half dozen of these over the years. There is also a great Spanish language version as well that has the Dorman cover.
One time, I saw a whole backpack filled with nothing but these tpbs....but if I said more on that subject the Valiant Mafia will hurt me.

Re: Magnus VS. Predator TPB
I have two copies as well. I managed to snag a deal in an ebay lot of other Valiant books years ago. I remember the pic not being the greatest, but you could make out the corner of the Magnus tpb under some other books, if you looked real hard. Can't remember how much I won the lot for, but I know it wasn't much over 20 bucks and it had a few other fairly rare books as well, so it made a nice bonus.myron wrote:I've had multiple copies...all found in the wild, never paid more than $5...still have at least 2 copies stashed away somewhere
Wonder how many copies magnusr is up to now?
