Ya know, I honestly don't know. I tried looking up info on it, and didn't find much. There was something on here about Layton being unhappy with DF, but I couldn't find an article about it. I looked on his website and nada.
Anybody have a link to anything? Or does anyone have the csn that had this as the cover? The most I could really find was that it was marked as "Sold Out" on the DF website which made me think they sold them, but maybe not...I'm actually really curious about why he was mad actually, and I'll probably just ask him at a show if no one really knows/remembers.

Does anyone have any idea how many of the lithos were made? I can't find any available online...
Congrats! Killer piece. Was the litho for this ever actually produced? I thought there was an issue at the time
with them using Mother-God and Geoff. I believe it did make the cover of Comic Shop News or similar publication.

No lithographs were made. If they were, they were never legally sold.
Dynamite solicited this as a lithograph without doing any homework and didn't realize that Gold Key had very little claim to Erica Pierce or Geoff McHenry.
Even the Unity tower in the background appeared in Valiant books that weren't Solar books.

This was made when Dynamite was trying to pretend they had somehow obtained the rights to Valiant things... without obtaining any rights to Valiant things. facepalm
(It's still a sweet piece, because it's Bob Layton 2005 at the start of the hints that Valiant was coming back... not dead.) :thumb:

This is a really cool piece , I remember wanting a copy of that litho so badly back then. I wonder who commissioned this piece from Bob Layton ? Someone from dynamite or Dynamic Forces ?

:high-five: Thanks for the info Greg.
Now I'm curious if it truly was a cover for csn. If not no biggie, but if so, Cover! :D
Also, I am dying to read what Layton said about the situation.
Any knowledge on that?

The lithograph was cancelled, but it would have looked like this: http://www.previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUL052821" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I can't remember if Bob ever talked about the situation with Dynamic Forces, but my guess is that he did the piece and got paid. End of story from his side.

You're the man!
As luck would have it, someone was actually auctioning that csn with a BIN, so I just got a copy. (how random is that?)
I am considering this piece a cover...I mean...It's very cover-y...Whatever, It's a cover. :lol: This makes my first non color Valiant cover ever out of all the OA I've acquired.
