First CBCS Submission
I decided to give CBCS a try because I liked what they were offering for the authenticated signature program and the original art also. After I received one of these lots from Sonic Dan http://www.valiantfans.com/forum/viewto ... =2&t=46139" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and I got lucky and won the other drawing on eBay, I had an idea of what I wanted to do. When I submitted these, the lady that helped me at their booth said that they offered a frame that would hold three slabs together. I told her I was interested in it and she wrote a note on my invoice to contact me when these were done so I could purchase the frame too. Unfortunately they didn't contact me so I will try to find one on my own. I also had a blank unity cover that Cary Nord sketched on at a show that CGC was not present on this submission. Sorry for the blurry pictures.
I submitted these at Wizard World Chicago in August and it took a little over 4 months which was a little slower than CGC. The packaging was very professional and secure. I also liked the emails they sent at every step of the grading. I had no issues with the customer service when I called for an update. Overall I am pleased with CBCS and will continue to send comics to them to authenticate signatures.
However, I prefer CGC because of the competitive registry sets, the census and the higher resale value. Also, believe it or not, the shorter wait time from CGC. Some of this could change when CBCS finally launches their registry and census. Not sure what the hold up is there.
Anyway, a big thanks to Sonic Dan for the Divinity set, if you haven't purchased anything from him you should. Excellent packaging and great deals.
Thanks for looking!

Re: First CBCS Submission
Thanks for sharing, man. I'm so glad you were able to marry those 2 pieces of artwork together. I have one of those, and while it seemed incredibly expensive at the time, it turned out to be a very good investment. I've been waiting on a few books to send to CBCS, and one of them is this signed LaRosa that I'm sending in. I have the Divinity artwork in front of me right now, in my home office.
I bought one of the authenticated CBCS slabs from DBS, and I was pretty disappointed by it (not DBS, but CBCS). It has a clear huge color breaking spine tick, among other defects. Still, it received a 9.8 (Book of Death Paolo Rivera Variant - Signed by Gill and Venditti). If this book looks anything like mine, it's flawless.
What did they charge you for this one? Can I ask?

Re: First CBCS Submission
I don't have the invoice in front of me, but I am pretty sure that the total for the four items was about $180. Each slab was $40, throw in an invoice charge and some shipping. Now that I think about it its pretty expensive compared to the SS from CGC. Pressed, witnessed and graded runs $40 each at CGC. Looking back, I shouldn't have done the Unity book but am glad I did the Divinity.
The Divinity was flawless as far as I could tell and I had asked a couple people working at the CBCS table for their opinion and they felt the same. I was wondering if I should have had it pressed, they said no. I thought it was the best condition book I have ever owned and thought maybe I had a chance at a 9.9, but I definitely wanted the second opinion.

Re: First CBCS Submission
Nice! Thanks for the heads-up. I'm not going to get my artwork authenticated, but I will definitely be sending in that book. Funny, I'd prefer a CGC slab, and I think they are leaving money on the table with not offering this service.

Re: First CBCS Submission
I agree, I wish CGC offered this service... I would love to add this to my registry set but I sure didn't want a green label that said name written in marker on front cover...

Re: First CBCS Submission
That's where I've seen your forum name before. So now all we need is Ricomortis to post in this thread and we will officially have 100% of the competitive Divinity Set owners all in one thread.
(Let me know if anyone is looking to fill holes in their registry sets; I have a LOT of extra 9.8's of most Divinity books)

Re: First CBCS Submission
I started adding my Divinity slabs, but of course CGC has mis-labeled the majority of them so I can't submit them for the appropriate slots. FFS I'm getting tired of this CGC!nycjadie wrote:http://comics.www.collectors-society.co ... ypeID=4003
