Imperium #11 Discussion
This issue was beautiful, i think it must be the way the art was colored. The story was great too, the characters are really starting to feel complex. Especially loved how he was getting into Gravedog's psyche a bit.

Another great issue. So many moving parts all beautifully intertwined between two timelines.
And yes, fantastic art and color.
I can't wait to see this fleshed out into a movie someday.

Another tremendous issue, this story arc has been absolutely excellent so far. Gorgeous art from two very talented artists. I know the sales figures are lower in this title (which is so absurd it blows my mind), but how is no one talking about this book around here?

More brilliant from Dysart; this might be my favorite comic ever. I loved the interactions between everybody.

Great issue. It will be interesting to see if Gravedog sticks by Harada.

Re: Imperium #11 Discussion
Another top notch issue for me. Dysart has crafted an incredible tale ver this and the preceding ten isuses, with each arc having a nice focus shift, and packing so much in each monthly issue (something which I think would benefit a couple of other VEI ongoings).
Number eleven was no let down and maintained the high quality. A number of threads are pulling together to what i feel promises to be a big climax - I think there is life for the book and characters, but I sense a shift in how thinsg are from next month, or that harada will somehow reset things in his favour.
The only question that comes to mind which i am a little dubious about is Harada's monthly sleeps: he clears reverts to his more normal age, so how does that resolve for the future Harada a long time hence? Does the sleep chamber switch off his powers fully? If so eventually time must catch up with him, right?
It seems there are a die-hard few who absolutely love this. I have a few thoughts as to why it isn't being more widely read, but none of that is to do with the quality or content of the title.
I think the creative team should be very proud of their work on this issue and the series as a whole.

It is mind-boggling why sales on this title are low. I consider it the best book published by Valiant, and also one of the best comics on the stands today. Hopefully the sales figures won't limit the run.

i think they've confirmed that its going to be a 25 issue run, i imagine the completed comic will be a great starting point for people to read ValiantSavant wrote:grendeljd wrote:Another tremendous issue, this story arc has been absolutely excellent so far. Re: Imperium #11
This would be the first I've heard about it being predicted to end at #25. Any source for where you heard that from? Not that I'd be horribly surprised to see it only go to 25 like so many others, but I'd rather see it continue. And it seems a little early for them to telegraph it ending that far out. Usually it's not confirmed till solicitations a few months prior to publish date.Brapbrap wrote:i think they've confirmed that its going to be a 25 issue run, i imagine the completed comic will be a great starting point for people to read ValiantSavant wrote:grendeljd wrote:Another tremendous issue, this story arc has been absolutely excellent so far. Not much to say except this series is pretty close to perfection. So compelling! Great characters, and so much happening on different fronts. Quite possibly my #1 favorite title right now. And that's not just of the VEI titles, but of everything I read (which is a lot). I will definitely buy a Deluxe HC collection of this title should one be made available. I can see myself re-reading this multiple times. Well done Dysart and team! Keep up the great work!

I am just now catching up on my reading. Holy *SQUEE* this book is amazing! There is just so much going on and every aspect of it is compelling. The art is amazing as well.
My favorite part is LV99 jumping out of a plane and crashing head first into Harada's plane. With a parachute on his back he has no intention of using.
And then later he's mocking Ingrid as he's about to rend her limb from limb. Comedy gold!!!

I don't know if it is my faulty perception, but I do think more could be done to push Imperium. As I say it may be my faulty perception, and maybe they do push everything equally, but it seems Kindt books frequently get a push, as do any launches which often coincide with a new writer in the VEI fold.

Agreed. I've tried to get so many friends into Valiant, I'm running out of ideas how. I always have 12 issues borrowed out that I have tried to lend to peeps to get them interested.

Hmm, that gives me an idea.

Perhaps I'll purchase copies of Imperium and Ivar (and others) and allow my LCS to lend them out to interested customers. In that way, perhaps everyone (including my LCS) benefits by spurring interest in Valiant titles.

Re: Imperium #11 Discussion
IMO, my source of frustration in VEI for the last two years is the "sacrifice" of their best writers, FVL and Dysart, for hot new talents Kindt and Lemire. I am down to three books (Imperium, Mirage, and just barely EW) I don't think their gamble on the name recognition of Kindt and Lemire paid off.leonmallett wrote:I don't know if it is my faulty perception, but I do think more could be done to push Imperium. Re: Imperium #11 Discussion
While I prefer Dysart and FVL to Kindt and Lemire, I have heard several folks on Reddit say that they've checked out Bloodshot Reborn or Ninjak due to the writers name on it, and in all the cases I can remember they liked the product. So it does help some. And they haven't really sacrificed FVL and Dysart. Dysart has been writing for them non stop almost, and FVL is working on something else for VEI that hasn't been announced yet. Yes, I wish they each had more influence on the whole than some of the others, but if we chained them to desks and forced them to write everything that VEI publishes, then their output wouldn't be the great stuff we've come to expect from them.erwinrafael wrote:IMO, my source of frustration in VEI for the last two years is the "sacrifice" of their best writers, FVL and Dysart, for hot new talents Kindt and Lemire. Let them do what they can and will, and hope that they'll get more accolades later after the spotlight of movies on the big screen introduces tons of new fans to their excellent stories and characters!

Re: Imperium #11 Discussion
On twitter i asked Dysart about writing more titles for Valiant..But he said that he prefers to write one book a month..Due to this his stories are much more denser IMHO..Plus he is not sitting idle he is going out into the world and trying to make it a better place..So i can't even argue with him that he needs to write more..Phoenix8008 wrote:While I prefer Dysart and FVL to Kindt and Lemire, I have heard several folks on Reddit say that they've checked out Bloodshot Reborn or Ninjak due to the writers name on it, and in all the cases I can remember they liked the product. I'm sure VEI would LOVE to hand the keys to Dysart and allow him more influence over the greater universe ... but he CLEARLY doesn't want that. He wants to live in his little corner -- contributing brilliant work month after month for Harbinger/Imperium. I'll take it.
FVL I think has had his hand in more of the world building. Kind-T is definitely the main architect at the moment but I can definitely see FVL taking that role at some point. I think he has the ambition for that.
