Geomancer & Livewire...
... are two of the biggest female VEI characters (I'm hanging on the Kay version, but Tama looks promising) YET DC is now pushing their own Geomancer to the Flash and maybe even their Livewire will appear in one of these CW shows (or has appeared, I stopped following Arrow and only saw a couple of The Flash eps). Shouldn't this worry VEI a little bit? DC's characters came later, the ball is on VEI's side and with movies coming out and all that...
I'd go after DC. Geomancer is one of the names that comes around when explaining the Valiant universe and Livewire (2012) is one of their most accomplished characters.
Any thoughts?

Re: Geomancer & Livewire...
This looks like DC has people in creative who are fans of Valiant, came up with the concept and didn't realise where the name was from with regards to Geomancer.
I think that DC already has a character called Livewire (please correct if I am wrong).
As long as their media presence outside of comics is reduced to that one awful cameo for Livewire on Supergirl (almost typed Smallville), then I see no reason as to why Valiant needs to go after DC.

"Go after" is the wrong word.jxm640 wrote:This looks like DC has people in creative who are fans of Valiant, came up with the concept and didn't realise where the name was from with regards to Geomancer.

"Clarify" is a better word. Valiant should clarify with D.C. where there are any trademark overlaps... and reach a happy point.
Livewire from DC isn't older than Livewire from 1990s Valiant.

Re: Geomancer & Livewire...
Ok, "clarify" it is. Blame it on my bad wording.
But, yeah, since VEI is the owner of the OG names they should clarify it with DC. Specially the Geomancer. She's one of the things that makes this universe unique.
Livewire is a case of, I really want people to know about this character and not feel confused with a z-rate dc villain.

I agree VEI should not let DC use these names on TV it would seriously affect the recognisability of their characters, especially an important character like Geomancer.ShadowTuga wrote:Ok, "clarify" it is. Blame it on my bad wording.![]()

Re: Geomancer & Livewire...
Valiant has a trademark on both names. That doesn't necessarily prevent DC from using the name for a character, but they wouldn't be able to title a comic, television show, or movie using those names.

There is a trademark for Geomancer, because it has a registration number. Livewire is an application, not yet approved (no registration number).

Then I think we need to see a Livewire series to help their case.greg wrote:There is a trademark for Geomancer, because it has a registration number. Livewire is an application, not yet approved (no registration number).
