What is "Britainnia"(new title in 2016)
Britainnia is a new title going to be launched by Valiant in the near future...This information was kept tightly under wraps and was just came to light yesterday during the latest Valiant Central podcast interview with Dino. He confirmed it and said that they are as excited by this as much as "Divinity". This tells me two things first this might be a miniseries just like Divinity. He also mentioned that this is different from Divinity...
Just based upon the name "Britainnia" it sounds like a British feudal society related. I think this might be 4001 title analogous to Magnus as Divinity was analogous to Solar..
What was Magnus really about when you distill it down to it's core??
It was a man in the future fighting against the feudal machinations of an elitist society and their court intrigues.
So take that and set it against the backdrop of a 4001 technologically advanced British society which along with the growth in technology has regressed into a feudal societial structure...
In order to drive home the fact that this might be happening in 4001 is that VEI just registered 4001 to be an event title or even an ongoing..I believe 4001 is going to be the 2016 event and Britainnia and PSI- Lords are going to be two titles spinning out of that...
All this speculation based upon just a name is silly, I know, but all of us are silly people discussing so seriously about our funny book obsession anyways
So thoughts??
Your ideas about what this is and Who the creative team is going to be....
It's good time to be a Valiant fan...

Re: What is
I'm harassing Dino on Twitter about it. All he's said so far is correcting my spelling: Britannia.
I was starting to speculate its involvement in whatever this 4001 event is about. VH1 = North Am, perhaps we will see an equivalent here.

Re: What is "Britainnia"(new title in 2016)
I do like the idea of it being a counterpoint to New Japan. We've heard before of the Sentient Cities (plural), so why can't there be more than just New Japan?
Alternatively, Britannia as an individual sounds feminine to me, hence my thought of a female icon.
Could this be what FVL has been working on for VEI? He has said he's submitted scripts but hasn't seen art for it yet.
If Dino is dropping hints this publicly, it won't be long before we get something official.

I like both of the suggestions as to what Britainnia is. Why not unify them? A female Magnus type superhero in a 4001 Robo-Camelot-London. Would be badass!

Re: What is
Phew, I'm so relieved to know that. I think I was almost about to reach some sort of culturally-fuelled critical state when people were discussing in this thread how 'Britannia sounds feminine' without apparently recognising that there actually is an anthropomorphic personification of an island community with this name already

Personally, not sure if I'm appreciating the notion of a title called 'Britannia' at the moment. I'm definitely reserving judgement until I know more about it, but right now, as an English person, I'm not too convinced as to how likely or unlikely a title featuring the theme 'Britannia' is going to get up my nose, written by our brothers from the other side of the pond! I think it's fair to say that as with any story, it'll be more sensible to make a decision on that once the story has been read and all the facts are known - after all, if it does turn out to be based in some 4001 futuristic space city full of robots with a human woman that's going around bashin' 'em all up, chances are that I'm not going to feel particularly connected to the comic culturally anyway!

Must admit, my initial thought on reading the announcement for 'Britannia' was that it was probably simply going to be the title of a future Ninjak arc. Has it actually been confirmed this is a new title/character/arc or what?

Re: What is
Some good conversation around this, thanks for listening ladies and gents
As for the theories, a couple of ideas in the right direction, a lot heading in the wrong direction. Obviously I can't talk about anything that was discussed with me off the record but the concept is not as complicated as some of you are making it. I will say that what I heard really intrigued me and I'm very happy that Valiant is heading down this direction because it is important that while they keep the characters we love alive, that they also branch off into new and interesting concepts.

Re: What is
I think it has something to do with a Geomancer - 'Anni' is in the title, a hint towards the familiar while potentially establishing a strong new female lead in the Valiant U.

I think it's going to be the new 'Female Icon' (..."on par with Wonderwoman") for 2016 that came up a couple of months ago. I think Faith was the feint and Britannia is the suckerpunch
