SHadowman's sickle

Post by zachquam »

I was just wondering if anyone knew what Shadowman's sickle/staff's powers are? I just started re reading Shadowman and finished the first volume. Just dawned on me I had no idea what it could actually do.

Not sure that the story related to the sickle/staff was expanded much after that point. :hm:

Didn't Josiah imbue it with some of his power when he gave it to Jack in Deadside?

Of course that whole meeting seemed to be forgotten in End Times.

Yeah, I don't remember Shadowman's scythe (not really, but basically yeah) having any powers. The original concept art gave it three "modes" that it could switch between, but the comic itself never made use of that.

Well... The Valiant RPG book doesnt have much info either but says it does 4 Damage and +3 against Master Darque.

So... extra powers against him?

I don't know

Wasn't their something about it being immune to magic? Or was that supposed to be Shadowman in general?

Maybe it's meant to be a mystery. I was re re reading vol 1 and he smacks the end on the ground and releases an energy blast or something, but I haven't really seen anything since.

It seems like it was just never gotten to to be honest. They might've had plans for the weapon but when you look at the new look come December he's noticeably missing it.

Yeah, perhaps Darque being in possession of it has something to do with binding him? Or maybe it is being used as some type of McGuffin and once he gets the sickle back he can break the control. :? I don't know. I remember the old marvel cards from late 80s or early 90s that had a weapons section with some history on things like Caps shield and the Infinity Gems, some quick little blurbs like that would be great.

Also, I checked out the VU Handbook and it says "His scythe is especially effective against Demonic entities"

So at the very least, it probably either has some kind of supernatural enchantments layered into it, or it's got cold iron forged in the blade to be more effective against demons...

in Shadowman 16 he says he finally knows what to do with the scythe, and transports himself and Tremble to the Deadside with it.

I think Shadowman's scythe is telescopic because he's overcompensating.
