My sketch covers so far; a Diego Bernard X-O and a Matt Kindt Ninjak. I love the last annotation on Ninjak:

The art looks great. Is that Suayan?

kjjohanson wrote:I thought it would be cool if they did a number of variations at the different grades, with a couple being incentives for the top grades, but I can understand that being a big risk, so it looks like there will be one per book. There were a couple of images show, but below is the one I got a pic of. It appears as if the label says "Valiant's CGC Variant Edition," which is what I imagine the actual label would read. I'll be trying to get a 9.8 to slab of the A&A, but I probably won't strive to get a 3.0 of the WotEW.jaden_sai wrote:Are the Variants going to be 9.9 and the hard to find 10 ?kjjohanson wrote:I actually mentioned this idea to Dinesh a couple months ago through a message on the board here. When they announced it at the panel, they mentioned they had been working on this for a while. I spoke to him after the panel and commented that he hadn't mentioned that when I proposed the idea, and he clarified that they had been working on it since I proposed it. It's going to be fun trying to find a 9.8 of the 9.8 covers.Beware Cyclops wrote:The covers feature the cgc labelling as if the entire comic was slabbed. Re: Nycc report
A few other notes:
At the panel, I asked whether we might be seeing an ongoing series starring a female character, since they teased an icon-level female character. The response was that a news site speculated on that, and tossed the question to the Faith writer.
As DBS speculated, it does seem that Divinity 2 is going to feature a serious involvement of the female cosmonaut from the first mini.
I asked Matt Kindt whether he would be continuing on Rai and Ninjak after the first dozen issues, and while he said that he initially invisioned about a year on Ninjak, he came up with more avenues he'd like to explore, so he'll be on the book longer. And Rai offers a whole world to explore, so he doesn't anticipate going anywhere soon. Crain too seemed to see a future on Rai after the current arc (no pun intended).

The CGC covers are hilarious. What a cool idea.
4001...I know it would be major speculation and hopefulness, but what if we got a last page reveal of Magnus: Robot Fighter

Re: Nycc report
I've always figured that Bloodshot stands about 6' 3" at about 230-250 lbs (similar in build to Batman; Superman; Conan; and Captain America).tiredofmyself wrote:Are they in the same scale? I don't know whether Rai is bigger than normal human.
Rai, as a positron, likely would be engineered differently from the ground-up. I suspect he is more along the lines of a bulked NBA start at about 7' at 275-300 lbs.
Lebron James is 6' 8" at 250 lbs

Dwight Howard is 6' 10" at 270 lbs

Karl Malone is 6' 10" at 270

Blake Griffin is 6' 10" at 260 lbs

Serge Ibaka is 6' 10 at 245 lbs

David Robinson is 7' 1" at 270 lbs

Rai has a similar build, but a good 10-20% more mass. I suspect 7' at 300 is a good call.

I was at the panel on Saturday as well. Enjoyed hearing about all the new stuff coming down the pipe.
Also got some pics of the Eternal Warrior decaled car - I'll post them up later this week.
And for sure I went back to the Valiant booth after the panel and spoke the secret word - THANKS FOR THE GOLD BOOKS, VEI!!!

Re: Nycc report
The office tour was very small this year, perhaps because it was the last day of the convention. A bunch of people signed up for it but there were only about 6 of us that went. Their new offices are right around the corner from my office, so getting the box of con exclusives should be a lot easier than I was expecting. (I hadn't realized that they moved until this weekend.) They just moved a couple of weeks ago so they were still in the unpacking process. Not sure exactly what I can say about what I saw, but I know there's a lot that I can't say, so I'm just going to say that if you get the chance to come to NYCC in the future, don't miss the office tour.

And yes, rent is crazy. My studio's lease is up next summer, and rent has doubled in the last five years (in the same neighborhood as the Valiant offices)jmatt wrote:I hadn't heard anything about that either.
