Not gonna lie I'm glad they didn't spoil Shadowmans appearance. Nice little surprise in case of redesign.

Are you sure we haven't already seen the redesign in Book of Death?

I think that was more of an Easter egg for those of us who were following the relaunch in its infancy and know of the "good evening" design that was teased way back when.

But you never know...

I'd argue that if that's truly Shadowmans new design that it'd be the aftermath of some story maybe this one. I'm honestly expecting Jack to be portrayed as the bad guy primarily in this story and have either his current design or something slightly more demonic.

Kindt? Meh. I'll pass. Why they give hakf of their books to the weakest regular writer in their stable is beyond me.

Ninjak seems to be well received by most here. I've been enjoying it.

But is it better than Ivar, Imperium, X-O, and Bloodshot?

But... Kind-t's already writing Ninjak, so it's pretty obvious that he would be writing this arc as well. If he's writing Shadowman's new ongoing in April (this arc ends in March) then I'd understand your point.

I don't really see the point of this question. I was pointing out that while some (not all) on this board are down on Kindt in general most seem to enjoy Ninjak. I think it's better than Imperium, and occasionally better than Ivar and X-O. What I think personally doesn't really matter to you (or at least it shouldn't). What do you personally think about Ninjak? Do you hate it so much you are unwilling to give Jack's return a chance?

I am stoked about Jack, but I'm also really excited for Punk Mambo. I think she's an awesome character and they hit the "real punks hate the commercialized fake Hot Topic mallrat punks" vibe perfectly. And huffing glue to see Sid Vicious as your voodoo spirit guide will always be hilarious and super kick *SQUEE*! I think Punk Mambo has the ability to become Valiant's Hellblazer, a gritty street level magic character that deals with real things like drugs, junkies, serial killers, and politics while Shadowman and Dr.Mirage are off doing more "superhero" supernatural stuff. I think Lemire could knock Shadowman OR Punk Mambo out of the park. Heck, maybe have Punk Mambo become Jack's teacher to help him control his Loa. And I agree, Valiant really seems to be trying to build up the supernatural side of things, and I love it :thumb:

"We've been carefully building a well of demand for Shadowman over the last year...and have been denying fans resolution (since End Times)"
This makes me wonder that in the time we've spent without Shadowman on the shelves Valiant haven't been so much working out why everybody's been disappointed by the comic so far and have instead chosen to blunder on regardless. Really hope that some serious thought has been put into grounding this character.

"The Valiant Universe is very organic and we try not to shoehorn something in if it doesn’t feel right"
Sending Ninjak to Deadside with Punk Mambo feels one heck of a lot like shoehorning to me :? Kindt goes on to say: "I just happened to be in the right place with the direction I was steering Ninjak and had a fun and clever way to tie in to Shadowman and have their stories intersect. I’d truthfully been angling to get my hands on Shadowman for a while." I'm really wondering if there's going to be any kind of adequate resolution to the Shadowman/Darque pact that occurred at the end of End Times in this Ninjak Arc. Can't shake the feeling that this is going to end up totally unresolved because Kindt's doing his usual thing of picking up a new toy and playing whatever game he wants with it, without worrying too much about tying up loose ends.

"If you didn’t care about him before…I guarantee you’re going to love/feel-sorry for him after this arc is done."
Let's hope so Kindt, because that's what this character desperately needs.

Can't help but feel very wary of this one. Really not convinced at the moment, but I'll wait until it's hit the shelves before deciding for myself whether there's any hope left for this incarnation of the comic or not.

Oddly I would've played it of as Mirage as the Doctor Strange of VEI and Shadowman as magic Batman
