19 is freaking awesome, read it last night finally.
This is still my "to read first series, absolutely. Followed by Imperium and Bats. But EoW is numba one. Easily on my top 10 comics of all times and it's not even finished. Am I that comic-book-ignorant or is it REALLY, REALLY good?

Pics of the hardcovers from Hickman's twitter account. I think the one on the left is the regular HC and the one on the right is the DCBS variant:

Re: East of West Thread---WOW!!
Probably way too busy at SDCC. He was offering free sketches if you buy the HC from him. It's a really nicely sewn HC. I could've gotten it elsewhere with various online discounts but with a free sketch and money going into the artist's pocket, it's a no-brainer. I saw a handful of HCs (both regular and DCBS variant) on his table in the morning. By the afternoon, all the HCs were gone.lorddunlow wrote:Jealous!

Re: East of West Thread---WOW!!
Definitely. He and Nick Pitarra were signing at the same time at the Felix Comic Art booth at SDCC. Pitarra was doing the free sketch with MP HC, so that, as you said, was a no-brainer. Pitarra was a great guy too. I interact with him on Twitter a lot, but he's a really down-to-earth guy - easy to talk to. As I was watching Pitarra do my sketch I heard Dragotta talking about being drained and asked the Felix Comic Art guys if he was done. As he was packing up his stuff, I told him I didn't want to bother him for a signature, but I told him how much I loved East of West and how much I loved the scene in the last few pages of #10. He stopped to shake my hand and thank me and told me to grab one of his sketchbooks that were on the table and he signed it and gave it to me for free. Awesome guy.iggy101us wrote:Probably way too busy at SDCC. He was offering free sketches if you buy the HC from him. It's a really nicely sewn HC. It was surreal standing and talking to the artists on my two favorite comics that are being currently produced.

Nick Pitarra's sketch, by the way, didn't look any less polished than his actual published art. He was taking his time with every sketch and talked a lot to everyone.

Manhattan Projects is weird. Like, really weird. I don't quite understand how it has such a great following. Usually when I find things like it that are right up my alley (I've been obsessed with the history and science of the actual Manhattan Project for decades), they find no audience are are canceled. I'm amazed it is still going.iggy101us wrote:Great story. I'd like to give MP a try at some point. I love it. Hickman really researched the history of the actual Manhattan Projects and nailed some of the personalities. It's so much fun for me.

the issues in the second trade have been the best so far. I go back and forth whether #6 or #10 is the best issue so far. I still lean toward #6.dave the second wrote:I lost my volume one trade somehow so I just reordered it-and 2 3 and 4 as well shipped for $40. The first Saga trade included (off topic-lol)

Man, just talking a tiny little bit about it makes me want to read the last couple of issues asap. Tomorrow I'll be picking them up for sure!

Re: East of West Thread---WOW!!

No East of West for 2 months. Dang. I'll have to wait until the end of the month to read the final part of this arc.

I'm bummed.
Bought a VG extra copy of #6 (at cover, unfortunately there were no #10's around) because if this baby goes on TV, it will be the HOT issue- what say you, dunlow?

I'm actually speculating on a book, wow.
EDIT- My copy is actually NM, ha. And apparently this arc is shorter, with 16-19 being packed with the world book for vol. 4 of the TPB. I have to re-read it all, I had the feeling that we were about to get some sort of resolution, but that maybe it's in the next arc in it's entirety. I'm talking about the Babylon status quo and the Nation's plans

Re: East of West Thread---WOW!!
I was starting to think I'd missed an issue, it's been so long since 19 was on the shelf! I don't pre-order the book, I prefer to grab the minty-est copy I can find off the shelf myself.

Yeah, I'm still considering picking up a few slabs of #1 and #6. As for #10, is there a first appearance? I know there is a death, but as far as market value, I don't know of what would make that one more valuable (I know it's an awesome issue).ShadowTuga wrote:![]()

So, ya, not much of speculation on that one, but #6 is the one to go, imho.
