Book of the Month - July 2015

Post by Keith »

Last month, Imperium #5 beat Ivar Comma Timewalker #6 and Bloodshot Reborn #3 by 5 votes to win June.

Which book was the best for July?

Feel free to rank this month's books in your post.

You are allowed two votes, so ring in your top 2 books this month. This should help determine which books were best.

In case anyone is wondering, I opted to not include Legends of the Geomancer in the poll since not everyone will be getting it.

That would have been awesome though, potentially leading to 25 pages of discussion where we pitt communism against capitalism, before segueaing into topics such as quitting comics, failures in interpretive dance, and hats. :P

Still, I would have voted exactly the same as I just did; Fall of Bloodshot and Imperium.

My list for July:
  1. Book of Death: The Fall of Bloodshot #1
  2. Book of Death #1
  3. Ivar, Timewalker #7
  4. Ninjak #5
  5. Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer #1
  6. Bloodshot Reborn #4
  7. X-O Manowar #38
  8. Imperium #6
  9. Dead Drop #3
  10. Unity #20
Dead Drop was much better this month.
Alone, listless, breakfast table in an otherwise empty room.

Outstanding...

1. BOD: Fall of Bloodshot #1

Superb close seconds...

2. Book of Death #1 (based on pretending 'Beast Brigade' never happened)
3. Imperium #6

Still excellent reads...

4. Legends of the Geomancer #1
5. Bloodshot Reborn #4
6. X-O #38

Most improved...

7. Dead Drop #3

Must try harder....

8. Unity #20

Still waiting for my copy of Ninjak #5 and (still) don't read Timewalker.

1] Ivar, Timewalker #7 - thoroughly enjoyed everything about this issue.

2] Book of Death: The Fall of Bloodshot #1 - for sheer fun factor, this was a great single issue to read.

3] Imperium #6 - should have ranked higher for me based on the writing alone, but sits a hair out of the top two only because I felt the art style doesn't suit the story as well as it could (and it is good art).

4] Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer #1 - sorry to those who can't/won't get this book, but it was really well done, I liked it very much.

5] Book of Death #1 - pretty solid start to the miniseries, looking forward to more.

6] Bloodshot Reborn #4 - aside from the duller 'procedural cop drama' elements, another great issue.

7] X-O Manowar #38 - one of the best 'wedding issue' stories I've ever read in a comic.

8] Ninjak #5 - solid book.

9] Dead Drop #3 - a better issue of this series for the further plot details revealed.

10] Unity #20 - really not enjoying this storyline at all so far.

I voted for Imperium as my top book. Imperium is the most compelling comic I've ever read.

Book of Death #1 and Book of Death: Bloodshot are my next two choices.
