Bids are up to $200 so far, with a BIN of $950. This looks to be one of the better chances to see this book selling on the open market.

Got up to $390, ended early, was re-listed, and now is gone. :?

Tracking the growth of DIVINITY #1 (LaRosa 1:40) and BS:R #1 (LaRosa 1:100 Sketch)

Note: VEI confirmed 350 copies of DIVINITY #1 (LaRosa 1:40) in circulation;
Based on 38,788 printed copies of BS:R #1 (LaRosa 1:100 Sketch), 390-500 copies in circulation is not unreasonable.

From what I can tell:

DIVINITY #1 (LaRosa 1:40) has a 100% CGC/CBCS 9.8+ grade rate (10 known submissions; 2x CBCS & 8x CGC)
9.85 = Average CBCS grade
9.80 = Average CGC grade

BS:R #1 (LaRosa 1:100 Sketch) has a 27% CGC/CBCS 9.8 grade rate (15 known submissions; 8x CBCS & 7x CGC)
9.55 = Average CBCS grade
9.66 = Average CGC grade

DirtbagSailor wrote:Also, will someone please buy that damn Divinity #1 (LaRosa 1:40) CBCS 9.9 before the seller lowers his price into the dirt! He has lowered his price twice now, from $2200, to $1700, to $1400 OBO.

Considering how RAW copies are going for $300+ now (IF you can find them at all...) and the fact there are a confirmed 350 of less copies in circulation how many 9.9's do we expect to see?

From what I've been told, this book sold for $900.

Well, I think that ended a whole lot lower than most of us were thinkin' it would.

Ouchy :littleangry: .

In the big scheme of things, $475's certainly nothin' ta' sneeze at, but considerin' what the last one sold for :hm: ...

Plus this seller's gotta' cough up roughly 10% for fees (around $47-ish), and he stated free shipping; so he's now already down to barely clearing $420. Definitely still not a bad take IF he picked up this book when it first came out and IF he got it graded himself. But, OTOH, if he didn't, then, uhm, facepalm ...

I'm starting to wonder if the Divinity market is mostly speculators and investors looking to buy raw and sell graded; but not really collectors looking to buy graded.

I mean, raw copies of this book sell for ridiculous amounts, likely in the hopes of obtaining a 9.8 candidate. So it would seem that an actual graded 9.8 would sell like wild-fire at a premium. Yet, so far that has not been the case as far as I can tell.

Or might these books be a "long game" and not a "quick flip"?

I bought a #4 1:20 9.8 for a fraction of what I thought I would have to pay. It's the only Divinity book I didn't get in 9.8 raw condition. I think the market for graded books is definitely soft. What does that say to me? Good time to buy graded books if you need them.

When I look at this book I ask myself is it really worth the money it is going for? Yes he is the first new Valiant character to get his own mini series. Yes I am a little jealous I don't have a copy, but up until recently you could get a Harbinger #1 CGC 9.8 for much less. One of the most important Valiant books ever released. Of course the Divinity market is made up of speculators. That's why we mention these books at the CGC boards to watch the speculators do what they do.

Someone snapped up the #3 1:20 variant for $49.99 plus shipping and the CBCS 9.8 LaRosa signed #1 1:40 for $649.99 this morning.

I was finally able to snatch up a 1B (9.2) for $15. The 1:40 still alludes me, but I'll be looking to drop a pretty penny on it, early next year before Divinity II drops. It's already been announced, but once the sequel hype hits, (marketing & promotion) it'll most likely drive the price up some more.

I've got a fairly significant amount of Divinity #1-4 variants that being slabbed right now. All together, about 30-40 copies.

Should be able to fill some holes in a few people's collections when the time comes.

Same here. If anyone (else) has noticed from my slab WTS thread, you'd see I've already sold over 20 9.8 slabbed Divinity #1-#4 variants.

I hope to have another 20 or so more 9.8's in-bound here in the next three or four weeks :hope: ...

I've only got the A covers for Divinity #1-4, and I'm not considering having them stabbed :D Seems like a waste of a great book :kidaround:

I've got no problem with slabbed books, I'm just not as interested in stabbed ones. :D

Minor difference.

I expect Divinity II will spur interest. This book will, as all comics do, float up and down in value, but the character is here to stay. Gotta have a long term perspective.

A successful movie release for Bloodshot will juice interest across the board. :hope:

I suggest tracking Divinity #3 now as well.

This page from Divinity #3 (which features THREE cosmonauts; AND just happens to be owned/listed by Dinesh on his CAF page...):

This Tweet from Warren Simons:

Which features this artwork clearly depicting a female cosmonaut (who likely first appeared in Divinity #3 on the page shown above).

I slogged a Diamond box full of Divinity #1a first prints with me to NYCC today. 31 issues in all. I was going to simply submit them to CGC for slabbing but then I realized (with a little help from Ken) that present at the con were writer Matt Kindt, colorist Dave Baron and inker Ryan Winn. All were extremely gracious in indulging me in this endeavor.

So after much back and forth and wrangling this damn box around with me half the day, I grabbed a CGC witness and got all three signatures on 17 issues and submitted them (Kindt at the booth, the others in Artist Alley), along with 14 issues unsigned.

Unfortunately, I didn't have enough unsigned issues for a pre-screen (50 is the minimum) so I guess I'll have to live with whatever grade they receive individually. They were graded as NM by Mid-Town when I purchased them, and they all looked pretty darn pristine, so I have my fingers crossed. :hope:

But I was psyched at the prospect of a batch of three signature books. It would tough to make those stars align again, so perhaps these will be pretty rare.

Never having done something like this before, I was in for some sticker shock. About $850 bucks. Yikes.
