New Valiant Trademarks
Not sure if this has been covered anywhere, but I see that Valiant has filed trademark applications for:
DINOSAUR HUNTER
ROBOT HUNTER

Based on the Fall of Bloodshot, they probably need to go ahead and trademark ROBOTIC DINOSAUR HUNTER as well.

Re: New Valiant Trademarks
I would've thought there'd be more comments and internet buzz about this.
Great news and makes me think (with the earlier trademarking of Gin-Gr) that we could see another event focused around robots next year...
Dinosaur Hunter - yes! I would love to see Turok back in this universe but will take anything I can get. Wonder if the earlier trademarking of The Savage plays into this?
Irrespective of what happens with these trademarks it's a good time to be a Valiant fan

Re: New Valiant Trademarks
Is it likely that they're just trademarking these titles for prospective future use, rather than with something *definite* in mind? Maybe just metaphorically 'flipping the bird' at Dynamite by preventing them using those titles? Maybe to prevent drawing too close a comparison between new Dynamite comics and old Valiant comics?

How far out in advance had they registered Armor Hunters? Note that they trademarked Livewire and Eternity without actually using those for titles yetShadowman99 wrote:Is it likely that they're just trademarking these titles for prospective future use, rather than with something *definite* in mind? ARMOR HUNTERS - November 2013 - Previewed in April 2014
GRN-GR - May 2015
THE 1% - February 2013 - Released November 2014
ARCHER - July 2013 (I think this is the most interesting filing, honestly)
ETERNITY - September 2013 (Do we know what this is?)
DEAD DROP - January 2015 - Released in May 2015

Re: New Valiant Trademarks
Trademarking "Archer" alone may be because of the popular television show, or that it's just a common word applicable to a lot of comic properties. Interesting that it took so long, you mean? I wonder is "Armstrong" is similarly trademarked singularly.nycjadie wrote:ARMOR HUNTERS - November 2013 - Previewed in April 2014

I assumed when I saw the "Eternity" trademark that it would be the name of the new series, which we know now not to be true. Still no word as far as I know.

Interesting due to the TV show, but I didn't want to overtly say itTrademarking "Archer" alone may be because of the popular television show, or that it's just a common word applicable to a lot of comic properties. Interesting that it took so long, you mean?

I would like it if Eternity was the title of the book that deals with the other two cosmonauts that were with Divinity.

Re: New Valiant Trademarks
In response to my question about Eternity many months ago, Warren Simons tweeted back a picture of a cologne bottle.
Smart *SQUEE*.
But.... if you take a look at the recent White Board of Doom picture from Dinesh, "Eternal" is written directly beneath the Book of Death logo. Possible same thing?

Re: New Valiant Trademarks
I'd say 'Eternal' and 'Book of Death' in that kind of scenario are fairly likely to be linked, but in relation to 'Eternal Warrior'. I think that's a reeeeeeeal long shot you're taking thereKeith wrote:In response to my question about Eternity many months ago, Warren Simons tweeted back a picture of a cologne bottle.

By coincidence I'd actually PM'd Dino about this a month or so back. Dino's response was perfectly amiable, but with regards to what 'Eternity' was/is/may be, VEI are remaining very tight-lipped about it at the moment - but it appears to be far from forgotten

Re: New Valiant Trademarks
Do you think there are fans of other comic companies that are looking up what they're trademarking? Are we just weird like that?

I don't know, but there are websites devoted to Apple trademark filings, and the tech press frequently runs stories just based on trademark filings.

Divinity is the first cosmonaut
Who came back because pull of home
Was too great. Came back too late
Couldnt share love with his woman and child
So now he tries share impose on others
Eternity is second cosmonaut
Infinity is third but the book will be called
Valiant's Infinity. Maybe?
