Doing an auction on the forums?
Hey folks. I have seen some auctions being run here on the forums in the past. What are the rules for setting one up and how long can I have it go for?
Thanks.
Thanks.

- Especially "dude." And "balls." Those terms work in the tech industry.

Re: Doing an auction on the forums?
My personal recommendation is to have it end at a specific time, but any bid within 10 minutes of the end of the auction or later automatically extends the auction by another 10 minutes. That reduces the sniping, and folks in different time zones (or busy lives) can realistically participate.

Went ahead and moved this to the proper section. As far as rules, I don't think we've set up anything specific other than do your best to be a responsible seller and try to get the stuff into the buyers hands in a timely manner. Just keep in mind that like ebay, your reputation means a lot.

The auction must have something in it that I need. That's also a well established rule.

These are the best auctions ... they give flexibility to the buyers and possible more cash for the seller.nycjadie wrote:My personal recommendation is to have it end at a specific time, but any bid within 10 minutes of the end of the auction or later automatically extends the auction by another 10 minutes.
