If the Ultimate line was intended to be an easier introduction to the characters then fine, but what happens when the Ultimate line is ten, fifteen or twenty years old? Same problem, surely, but doubled.

What then? Start all over a third time?

Hopefully House of M tidies the Marvel Universe up ...

New Avengers, New Thunderbolts
Black Widow - just read the first story so looking forward to BW2
Marvel Team-Up - don't know why, but strangely addicted to each new issue

speedracex , are you referring to New Avengers or Young Avengers?

As far as Young Avengers goes, so far, four issues, I am very impressed by Heinberg and Cheung's story: they have told a very fluid tale with a natural use of Captain America and Iron Man and a great way to start with JJJ and the ...

Strangely the first issue of Conan that I read was issue 1, but not the first issue. Luckily my first issue was a reprint of issue 1 when Barry Smith was behind in the Red Sonja story he ended his run with.

From there I caught up on the back issues and stuck with the series until Roy Thomas left ...

There are probably a thousand differences, but I always saw Moon Knight as potentially Marvel's Batman.

If that is the case then a lot of poor decisions must have been made, because DC's character has done rather well over the years. Can't say the same for MK.

Looking forward tho' to seeing what ...

I haven't compared what occured in ASM prior to Gwen's death to the new twins story, but I was wondering: did JMS pick up on any dialogue from the old stories that made the 'Sins Past' events inevitable? That would be good.

Whilst that would be coming out of left field, Reed and Victor knew each other before the flight, so something between Sue and Victor would always be a storyline that might be doable.

The comicbook has been around since the 30's so that's a heck of run. It also crosses several generations, so hopefully a few younger readers still prefer their fill of superhero-dom in the printed form. I know I still prefer the printed page for my main reading pleasure even though I have embraced ...

I do have to wonder where all the great comicbook writers are these days?

Don McGregor, Doug Moench, Gerry Conway, Roy Thomas, et al. But it sure is good to have JMS, Whedon, Card and Hudlin making a great contribution to our hobby.

BTW: who is older, May or Logan? :)

Marvel 61-71, the first ten years, about 1000 issues.

Probably redefined everything that has come since.

There are plenty of artists, writers and characters that have come since that also thrill and enjoy but the originals still rule.

Funnily the same answer applies for music and tv: what a ...

I think david is correct in many ways. I only buy trades if it's for books that I can't get or want to keep my issues in good shape.

Comics have become watered down. Pages probably average, what, maybe 3 panels per page nowadays? It takes far too many issues to tell a simple story. Most comics ...

Comics or Trades?

I have been buying comics since the early 60's when the idea of waiting for a trade was non-existant. I will buy a trade now if it reprints something I missed when it came out in monthly format, but I prefer to buy the comics even now, when it is often like buying a five-part trade in installments ...

Collecting Modern Comics

I read an interesting piece recently about the merits of collecting the modern comics because in general they have such small print runs compared to many years ago. Beyond the top twenty, a lot of very good comics are printed with runs under 50,000, which is very small compared to 30-40 years ago ...
