I'm unironically hyped for Unconquered, but this is just sad. Can't they just die already?

I wonder what the print runs on some of these are - let alone the alternate posters.... errr I mean covers.

My LCS wondered when they will stop publishing.

The Kickstarter is now nearly 5 months late, it was apparently going to the printer in Oct/Nov. not sure what the turn time is on those things but that seems incredibly long, even for China.

At this point it's a completely reasonable question to ask why they are publishing anything at all. Somewhere there is a serious business answer and guaranteed it isn't because they are doing well on profitability here.

This is the main reason I didn't get on board with the Kickstart.
I bet they are just looking for a buyer at this point splitting up the charaters to sell at discount prices.
I Miss the good old days.

The original art cover to X-O Manowar # 4 (the Pre-Unity, BWS one) is up for sale in this month's Comiclink auction.

And the description basically refers to Valiant Comics in the past tense, noting:

"Valiant returned in 2012 for a second successful run that continued for a decade."

I think it's time to move all Valiant boards here to the 'Dead Universes' section

I suspect that one will land in Dinesh’s collection, which would be a great home for it!

Agreed - sad to say, I think the simple and cynical answer is that it’s just to keep the IP’s active (in hopes of selling for the best ROI) with a bare minimum level of effort and expense.

I have to agree. As damaged as many of us think the brand already is, it's probably better to avoid shutting down the publishing side while they're still trying to get movies off the ground...or looking for a buyer.

Still, Becky Cloonan and Liam Sharpe are relatively big gets for Valiant. If they can get those two, at my most optimistic I could see them getting some similarly big names on another title next, potentially publishing twice a month, and maybe starting to turn things around. But that's at my most optimistic, not what I actually think will happen. I'd put even money on the next title announcement being from a total no-name creative team like the Eternal Warrior Kickstarter hardcover. Or maybe they do get a good name like Jeff Parker who phones in a totally forgettable story. (Sorry, I just read the latest Ninjak and was not impressed with the story. No comment on the art.) Big names are helpful to the brand, but only if they're not phoning it in for an easy paycheck. Anyway, my confidence is low but hope springs eternal!

Yeah that was pretty much what I was alluding to. Ran themselves into the ground as a publisher, but you'll have to pry those I.P.'s from their cold, dead hands simply by publishing a short run of something annually or something like that....
