I have joined, but I was wondering why 1997 as the cut off?

VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

I agree. In my mind the Marvel Universe pretty much holds together 1961-1991 or 92. Post Infinity Gauntlet the McFarlane/Liefeld/Lee storytelling style takes over almost everything and the universe starts to lose any semblance of coherence IMO.leonmallett wrote: Thu Aug 05, 2021 5:15 am I have joined, but I was wondering why 1997 as the cut off?![]()
An argument could also be made for 1994 when Defalco leaves as another good cut off point. Stan Lee -> Thomas/Wein/Wolfman/Conway/Goodwin -> Shooter -> Defalco. All of them were trying to continue the Stan Lee tradition and Stan Lee storytelling style remained basically intact, continuity more or less intact and somewhat coherent. Another good cut off would be 1996 when FF was canceled and rebooted at #416.

I just assumed they were anti-Joe Quesada since the big thing in 1998 was Marvel Knights which led to him being EIC.
That or they LURVED Heroes Reborn and are still shaking their fist at Heroes Return.

Joe Quesada’s name never entered my mind regarding the timeline. I wanted a cutoff point, and I actually based it on Onslaught’s almost destroying everything. I’ve always personally thought the Onslaught storyline and its result is underrated, and it’s always been easy for me to imagine the Marvel Universe ended there.
There’s a group on FB titled something along the lines of MARVEL COMICS - 1939 TO PRESENT. There’s always that option. I think there’s one for 1987-2012 also. Plenty of groups to choose from. Ours has experienced phenomenal growth though, already breaking the 12,000 member threshold and garnering 125,000+ views per month.
