Let's say someone on the boards suddenly turns out to be the one who will handle the characters professionally. Someone who will bring his love and understanding of what made great sellable stories. Can he still be a fan? Must he start seing things from the business side? Can he post here without drowning in ideas? Should he be forced to sell out his collection for cheap so he can maintain a clear business relationship with his partners? Lots of interesting aspects.Valiant OCD wrote:talk amongst yourselves........
How can we all help? Comic publishing is a tough business and first of all the company must survive. It must be a working business that goes way beyond the ideas of us here.
Chris recently posted a story about a guy who became successful as a comic dealer once he managed to seperate being a collector and being a businessman. We'll see.

Assuming that Dino is the one who will be running the show I'm sure he will gladly listen to input from everyone here. Then he put all the ideas he does not like in the circularr file and keep the ones he does.
At least that is how I would do it.

Well, I don't think it really matters if it is dino or any other VALIANT fan, I do emphasize the word fan, I think once you have a million plus dollars invested (and with legal fees etc. the price will be well over 1 mil), unless you have crazy wealth and don't really care about the money, the business aspects of owning these characters will be "front and center" very quickly. It would probably be hard to decide between the emotional decision to try to bring back the characters in a pre unity type form that we all love (somewhat risky financially) and maybe liscensing the characters to another company (someone else's risk, you just collect the fee!).
So in answer to the topic question, the person bought the characters out of his love of the comics, but better know that it's now a business, again, unless the finances don't matter, then it become a hobby or a toy to the owner and he can please us fanboys because the cost doesn't matter. Most business people, when dealing with money eventually (usually sooner vs. later) have to make some unpopular decisions at some point to pay the piper, bank, or make the investors happy, and if they avoid these decisions bad things happen to them financially and good things happen to those who are willing to make the tough decisions.
It's gonna be a tricky balancing act for someone, I do know that.
