My Valiant Story :) !
First off ! I wanna thank TheeBaldMoose for showing me this community.
I've been told people around here are really nice and full of knowledge.
I guess my Valiant story is pretty typical, but still, here it is !
I've been introduced to comics by my brother-in-law, first to non-valiant stuff. I was really excited about starting reading comics but then again, being the kind of person that needs to know the "Why/what/where/when/with who?" of the story in order to enjoy it ; I felt intimidated by big publishers like Marvel / DC. But still I managed to find a character that I thougt was cool to me (Deadpool at the time), and I decided i'd give it a go and try to understand how the comic universe works and start at the bottom of the character. I did the same with Spawn which I always loved even know I didn't know about it. He also showed me Image Comics, and told me: "This is the publisher you need ! You pick up a title, you have tons of different genres, and the best part for you is that you don't have to worry about any reading order or specific events and crossovers and whatnot...". He's right, I still love Image Comics to this day for all those reasons, and there's always something great to read.
And for about a year, my "mentor" kept throwing a rope at me once in a while by saying like : "Man, you should try and read some Valiant. I think you'll love this and you can still catch up on pretty much every character if you want. Try X-O Manowar, it's sooo cool !". I thought to myself: "Meh, I dunno... Guess maybe another time.". Finally, one day I was at a comic shop in montreal, and I happen to come across a TPB of X-O Vol.1 and decided, "What the hell, worst case scenario is I blew up 10 bucks". The next day I picked it up to start reading it for the first time, I read through the first 4 issues and once I closed the book I thought "Well *SQUEE*... How the hell am I suppose to go to bed now ? I need to know the rest of it !!"
So, for about a year now, I had been collecting the Valiant's DLX HC (Had to hunt some really bad to not have to pay a ridiculous fortune) but my collection has been complete for a little while now and since I love collecting stuff in general, this collection makes me a very happy man. Now I enter a whole new world of "Valiant Keys" and all of that good stuff, a road of challenges is up ahead but that's why I like it !
To wrap this up.. What's my Favorite run so far ? (Haven't read them all yet)
Mad love for pretty much all I read but... Probably Imperium

Welcome! Like Rico said, wait till you catch slab fever. I was the opposite of most. I collected graded books for the cover art and then decided I should try reading the books that I love. So much fun either way.

Re: My Valiant Story :) !
A little late, but welcome!
Image is a top favourite publisher of mine as well - I don't read any Marvel or DC anymore [with the exception of an upcoming New Mutants mini-series], but I read lots of various books from Valiant [obviously!], Image, IDW, Dark Horse & Titan. I'd have to say that Lazarus & Injection from Image are my top two favourite comics to read, month-in, month-out. I just love that Image books are all creator-owned series & can be set in whatever genre they want. THAT is the future of comics, to me.
Valiant is my go-to for superhero universe stuff
