Happy 25th Birthday, Harbinger #1!

Though it arrived earlier than the cover indicates, the book is referenced as Harbinger #1 - January, 1992

This book is the "birth" of the Valiant Universe titles, because Magnus and Solar had their origins in the 1960s under Gold Key.

Hard to believe it has been so long since it came out. Beyond Marvel & DC, it's pretty rare for a comic company/property to still have presence after this length of time. :thumb:

When the Pearl Jam album Ten turned 25 I was like "Wow"
But this..... This news makes me say "WOW"

Such a great book! The birth of so many amazing characters. This story line was really great as well as what it lead into. This is what kept me following Jim Shooter and David Lapham still to this day.

Maybe some day Valiant can get David Lapham on a Variant cover or something...

Harbinger #1 was THE book of my teenager years. I remember it was super expensive and nearly impossible to find.
At one point I finally found one and paid $80 for it. That was the most I had paid for a comic up til then.
The seller happened to be a local police officer who was also a comic collector. About a month later he pulled over my Dad for a traffic violation.
After figuring out he was my Dad he goes "Your son bought some comics from me, here's a warning instead of a ticket".

I started reading Valiant back in the days with the Unity crossover. I ordered the entire Unity crossover from the American Entertainment (or maybe it was Entertainment This Month . . . ? the monthly mail-order catalog hyping the latest comics). By then, Harbinger #1 was already in the $100 range. I eventually read the stories when the Harbinger TPB (bagged with the blue Harbinger #0) came out. I didn't own my first copy of Harbinger #1 until after I joined the board in 2007.
