Re: Auction Hall of Wow and Disbelief!
Trying to continue a recent thread from the last thread (I apologize for the crude look of it, I'm not very familar with using html on boards):
Holy smokes!!! Half those were from the same retailer too! Lucky guy. Wish he'ld stop putting Jim Shooter's name on every comic he didn't do, though.400yrs wrote:

It's almost like he's building a 9.8 set... for every Valiant!

Anyone with slabbed 9.8 commons should e-mail this guy as the prices he seems willing to pay are unbelievable. However, maybe the guy finds it easier to pay big bucks on already slabbed copies rather than subbing them himself. That's a lot of cheese on some of those books, though.

I know who xcol is, but I hesitate to reveal it. It was clear to me that this person changed his ID to leave his "reputation" behind - an action that was clearly understandable in his case.
It's one of the things that's broken about ebay which I've written about before. You can stalk members with a long history and really cause them undue grief.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't reveal who he is. In fact, I'm going to be creating a new ebay account so that I'll be bidding with a name that doesn't match my board id here.ckb wrote:I know who xcol is, but I hesitate to reveal it. Am I causing the dude undue grief by posting the auctions?
Obviously the guy is trying to put together a 9.8 set. If I post it here, it might help out both him and board members. If a board member had a CGC 9.8 common, I'm sure they'd sell it to him for a heck of a lot cheaper than 49.99 + shipping. Maybe price doesn't matter though. Then again, not too many people bother to slab commons unless it is for a specific reason or they just simply have no clue.

For commons, you leave them in the slabs and continue to search for other 9.8 commons to complete the run you want. The chance of re-sale is slim.Todd Luck wrote:I don't get too many comics above cover price myself. What's the plan when you pay that much for 9.8 Valiants? Do you get them for bragging rights? Do you sell them? Do you open them and read them ?
For instance, I started picking up a few A&A 9.8 commons. I'd like to get all the BWS issues (covers particularly) in 9.8 slabs. However, I'm only willing to pay slightly above slab fees (including shipping) for them (with the exception of A&A #0 - Thanks ckb!! ). If I was down to just 1 or 2 that I needed to complete the desired run, I would pay much more. Maybe that's why these are going for big bucks?

Wow this must be true if your friend couldn't get it to work.

The questions are pretty funny. I like this one...
Hey! I have seen the wiring diagram for one of these units, they really work, The basic idea is if you touch it while standing beside it for 24 hours, you will be one day in the future. I do not know how to get to the past though.

Didn't expect this to go for that much, especially with that URC bend.

Especially when they could get one without a crease for less.
