Future Comics help

Comic universes no longer active, Bravura, Continuity, CrossGen, Future, Malibu, Ultraverse... and others that are 'no longer with us' today (or only recently brought back).

Future Comics help

Post by JCVaughn »

I'm working on an article for Overstreet's Comic Book Marketplace Yearbook about Future Comics. Bob was kind enough to send me scans of the ashcan covers (I don't have any of them in my collection) and the Deathmask digest trade paperback, but I wondered if anyone here might be able to provide 300 dpi scans of those covers.

If so, let me know! Thanks!

Did you try comics.org? If that doesn't work
I can probably provide them for you this weekend.

I haven't found any 300 dpi scans of them at all yet. Any help greatly appreciated.

I don't have scans of Future Comics issues, but I do have a nice scan of the one CGC slab I own:

...including the back cover which is a Future Comics "ad".
http://valiantfan.com/dream/0059848021b.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

[EDIT]Tried my best Google-Fu and this is all I came up with at 300dpi or larger:

http://comicsbulletin.com/wp-content/up ... rs/fm1.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not 300dpi per book, but a large photo of 4 books (front and back):

JC,
I just emailed you a scan. Let me know if it's hi-res enough, and if it is I'll email you all the Future Comics scans this weekend.

Oops! I misunderstood JC. I thought he needed the regular issues from Future Comics, but he has those. He still needs the help he requested.

Thanks, Starbrand and Greg.

Yeah, I have all the regular issues except the variant of Deathmask #1. So I need it, the Deathmask digest trade paperback, and the ashcans for Deathmask #4, Freemind #8, Metallix #7 and Peacekeeper #1.

As I mentioned, Bob was kind enough to send me the images of everything but the Peacekeeper #1 ashcan, so I at least know what I'm looking for...

Oh, yeah, they are. Only the Deathmask #1 isn't super rare.

On the other hand, I hope someone has them. While I'd buy them if I saw them, for my purposes I only need print quality scans.

You're not going to find them in print. Deathmask #4, Freemind #8, Metallix #7 and Peacekeeper #1 were never publish. Layton uploaded the issues in his website and that was the only place you could read them, except for Peacekeeper, which had broken links. He has since taken them down from his website though.

Actually, there were printed ashcans sent to retailers of Deathmask #4, Freemind #8, Metallix #7 and Peacekeeper #1. It was the full versions of the issues that were not published. At least that's what Bob confirmed to me.

Never heard of the Deathmask digest trade paperback. Is that the book that says something about a film treatment? I do have the Deathmask #1 variant, got it directly from Layton, have never seen it for sale anywhere else.

I had never heard of it either until Bob told me about it. And yes, I think so. He's the one the sent me the image.

I would love to see the properties revisited someday, probably with a clean start. :thumb: :)

Wasn't there a rumour or possibility not so long ago that there was going to be a relaunch?

I have made a couple of searches in the past few days, but cannot find the info I very vaguely recall... :P

Could it be the Colony TPB that IDW released a few years ago and not a relaunch? I really would love to see these characters in the new Valiant universe.

I believe I have the Deathmask 6 ashcan, western type cover if memory serves. I'll
check and see if I can come up with a scan if this would help. As to other ashcan,
and I am assuming we are talking about 1/2 size issues, this is the only one that
Future produced that I received. I was buying about $250 a month direct from
them, and he sent me way more stuff than I could ever use.

The article hasn't run. It's frustrating to be so close to finished, but I can't come up with print quality images for the ashcans, the Deathmask #1 variant, and the Deathmask digest. It's even more frustrating that I have web-res images, but can't seem to get further.
