Q&W in The Valiant? (I sure hope not)

Saw an alternate/ variant cover for The Valiant #2, and it clearly shows Q &W , plz tell me they AREN'T going to make an appearance. I'm tired of these characters and would hate to drop this title ( I would have no choice though if Q&W make an app, I hate them that much)

That seems like a silly reason to not read a comic.. let alone one of the biggest events in Valiant history.

Q&W are terrible. Why ruin a good book by constantly inundating readers with their nonsense. Hoping Dino ditches Q&W altogether and puts out either good titles of VH1 characters or tries some new properties ( ala Divinity); the Q&W experiment needs to end. they suck

I'm not into the humor of Quantum and Woody as I find their banter to be rather juvenile, Woody just needs to be gagged as he's not funny at all. I don't mind jokes, but he just won't stop being *SQUEE* for two seconds. It gets old after awhile. It's my least favorite Valiant title. The characters could be so much better if the jokes were limited to when they are on their downtime, not in middle of life and death situations. It just feels too much like *SQUEE* hollywood film full of one-liners. As for showing up in The Valiant, I sure hope it's brief.

In principle I don't dislike the potential of the characters, I just don't care for Asmus' run. *if* they are in The Valiant, it may be an interesting opportunity to see a different approach, hopefully more toned down (Woody), which may be more palatable for those of us who dislike them.

Considering it's their most critically-acclaimed title, I wouldn't expect Valiant to drop Q&W any time soon. They're not even publishing a Shadowman book right now, but they published two Q&W books in December and will publish two again in January and February. Obviously somebody is digging what they have done with the book (me included), and Valiant is relying on them as a cornerstone of their current lineup.

Not meant as a mass flame, I'm wondering if the average age of members here is a little beyond Q&W's (the VEI/Asmus version) target demographic?

Based on the artwork Rivera has posted on Twitter, they will definitely be putting in an appearance. One image has the Goat front and center alongside Archer & Armstrong, and I think the other is primarily a shot of X-O but you catch a glimpse of Woody's jacket in another panel.

Personally, I decided I don't really care for Quantum & Woody enough to continue reading their title, so I stopped after the "original" series ended (what was that, issue 12?). I'm not getting their series or the Q2 deal, so I'm getting seven Valiant titles per month instead. It's a little lighter on my wallet, which is cool, but I'd rather have a stable Harbinger series or Archer & Armstrong return rather than Quantum & Woody taking up two of the nine available slots.

I think that Q and W can be funny at times and the last few issues I have enjoyed. I do miss how the original Woody used to be more of a street savvy con artist rather than a one dimensional buffoon. It feels like the new one tries very hard to go for the gags where the old one used to be able to say something at the same time/take chances.

I think that part of the problem is that they are always going up against the most outlandish foes that border on the ridiculous. I think that if Q and W were to go more the route of Fraction's Hawkeye take (how does a superhero deal with the more mundane day-to-day problems differently than un-supers) that could be really fun to read. I want to see more of the relationship between the brothers and how they deal with the issues of having to klang the arm bands once a day, and in general not driving each other too crazy. The premise imo is good and always has been unique, but I think that the direction that it has gone has just been a bit too zany for some.

Comedy is difficult to write, but I feel that they need to stay in the Valiant universe since they offer something different. Their issues have been hit and miss for me but I am excited for where they could take them in the future.

I dislike Q&W and their inclusion would put me off to The Valiant. As an editorial choice, I could see that having long term negative effect given the differences in Q&W and the rest of the Valiant Universe.

This is the way I thought it would be ... Street level action with some lethal weapon esque comedy (opposite personalities but get along like BFF's) with some poignant social commentary.

I think they got some of this right ... I like Asmus as a writer ... I think he is really smart.

But I think dialing back the over the top zaniness ... Making it a little more like Hawkeye .. Let's see a little more existential day to day dealing with being a "superhero" .. Would be a welcome improvement for me. I feel like they would fit within the universe more also.

I've actually been waiting to see Q&W appear in a book outside their own, not just to see how other writers handle them and how they interact with the greater Valiant universe, but to see how they're written in a different tone. their book is comedic, obviously, but that doesn't mean they can't also be written interacting with serious heroes and being taken seriously too. there's no reason they couldn't be like Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, who were pretty ridiculous in the pages of Justice League International but were also capable of being taken seriously when appearing in other books.

This. When there's a changeover of regular writer on Q&W we can worry about the tone of the book- it's currently doing well and it likely won't change. But outside of their book hey won't be dictating the tone, so this is a great opportunity to see potential different directions Q&W books could go later.

Personally, I think they should both be involved in semi-serious plots, but make it BECOME ridiculous by being dumbasses.

I'm probably far beyond VEI's target age-demo, but Q&W is alright by me! The arc about the assault on the white survivalist compound was one of my favorite comic storylines published by anybody in the past few years. Some of the scenes from those issues still crack me up!

VEI's readiness to publish social satire disguised as superhero books is one of its most distinguishing features, so it makes a lot of sense to me that Q&W would show up in The Valiant, which is a vehicle for giving many (perhaps all) of the company's central characters some time in the spotlight.

Regardless. If you don't like Q&W or you love them they aren't going anywhere, they will always be a part of the Valiant universe. It might be the corner of the universe you don't travel to but they will still be there.

It's the one title that more non valiant readers pick up and read so including them in something like The Valiant is a smart idea even if it's just a few panels...
