Who has been the most important VEI creator so far, and why?
Valiant is the son of the New Universe.

Toss up between Venditti and Dysart, but I'm leaning more toward Venditti.

I was thinking Nord or Van Lente, with the nod to Nord. I think they have the two most noted names in the industry of VEI creators to date. Nord gave instant credibility early on to the line. That's my take.

I would say Dinesh as creator of company and chief creative officer but if he doesn't count then I would say Dysart with Venditti close behind.

FVL

Maybe not as acclaimed as VDitty or Dysart, he's laid the foundation for the past and future of the VALIANT Universe. And he'll only further that role with Timewalker.

If you look at Keith's thread on the history of winners for the Book of the Month - Josh Dysart dominates

Here is Hawkeye breaking it down
hawkeyeps wrote:Just for fun I did a tally and assigned 2 points for a win and 1 for runner up-

Harbinger (includes BM)- 25
Unity- 9
XO Manowar- 5
Rai- 5
Bloodshot (and Hard Corps)- 5
Archer & Armstrong- 5
Harbinger Wars- 4
Shadowman- 3
Dr.Mirage- 2
Quantum and Woody- 2
Armor Hunters- 2
Eternal Warrior- 1

I would say it's pretty clear that Dysart delivers the goods with Harbinger as the most consistently excellent book

If you include harbinger wars and BS&HC - thats 34 of a possible 63 points that Dysart has had a hand in...

Dysart is the writer who has consistently delivered brilliant storytelling month after month. This is HUGE in keeping a fan base engaged and wanting more!

I know this isn't scientific .. but it is data that is worth noting.

So taking that into account plus weighting my own personal rankings .. Dysart is VEI's most important creator.

If Dysart were to leave the company ... it would be the most devastating loss, IMO.

And that's no knock on Vditti, FVL and Kindt ... whom I think are also very important.

I would say the it's a tie between Robert Venditti and Matt Kindt. Rob because he writes Valiants flagship title and Matt Kindt because he writes the flagship superhero team Unity and Rai, also I think he helped bringing Jeff Lemire in and the two are writing the upcoming The Valiant series.

I don't think anyone person can be named. There's just so many great people that are involved but without those other people to work with these things would not of come together like they have. You could start from the very beginning and even to current day. I'm just thankful they all did come together and the box of been as good as they are. But that's just my two cents LOL.

He does seem to be swept under the rug a touch.

That said I`d still say Vditty. He seems to have the most impact on the greater universe itself followed pretty closely by Dysart.

My thoughts exactly
I wonder what it would be like to be a lonely, muck-encrusted monster? Probably be an improvement.

i would say dysart. vditi is a close second.

I feel i could hand dysart's work on harbinger to anyone and say "this is good. read it"

all the other vei books i would be more selective of what i'm handing over and say something like "this is good if you like… green lantern/ ironman/ voodoo/ comedy romps etc etc."

I'm going with Kindt, because the other creators have all done great things with their books, Kindt is shaping the universe, creating connections, mapping the past and the future.

dysart is the reason i sticked around. lemire is the guy i will continue to stay (if his valiant stuff will be on par with his other work). those are guys who can not only write good stories but make characters come to life. it's not the fantastic concepts or crazy events who made spider-man and the fantastic four runaway hits for marvel back in the days, but it was the characters, the human factor. this is the most important thing, that's why dysart is vei's most important writer.

I'm really happy with all if them, but the Harbinger run has just been phenomenal. It's easily my favorite series in a decade. Soooooo,

Dysart FTW.
