Just read the preview of the new Moon Knight relaunch by Warren Ellis. I never read previews, but since I didn't think I'd be into this book, but was curious about Ellis's take, I read it. It looks AMAZING. The way Moon Knight is drawn is incredibly clever, and I'm actually looking forward to more.

I might have to check it out in TPB and/or HC.

I can't imagine a better writer for Moon Knight than Ellis.

Love Moon Knight, but I haven't liked anything Ellis has ever written save for Transmetropolitan. I have the first three issues preordered so I guess I'll have to wait and hope that I'm surprised....

I went today to my LCS and ordered the first 4 issues. I'm terribly excited, mostly because of nostalgia, but I've read the previews and it all points for being a series I want to read asap.
At one point in my childhood, I thought i was the only MK fan in the whole planet. :D

Yeah, it was some of his better stuff, but it just didn't click with me.

Truly terrible. :(

Oh well, there's an old saying....if you don't like the current Moon Knight relaunch, just wait around a few months.

It was...interesting. I didn't love it and I didn't hate it. It was just average for me.

The character design was weird, but I liked the visuals. I'll give it one more issue to see where they are going with this.

Where they are going is trying to repeat the HUGE success of Hawkeye. Taking a character and turning it upside down. I think the first issue was fantastic, PURE Warren Ellis. The guy is a genius for about 6-12 issues on anything. Then he loses interest and moves on.

Must read Ellis, my personal top 10: ( I know, no Transmet, I personally think it's overrated)

Planetary
Global Frequency
Nextwave
Ministry Of Space
Authority
Desolation Jones
Fell
Iron Man Extremis
Red
Ruins (if you can ever find it)
Edward

Really? I've never met anyone that thought Ruins was more than a masturbatory, "oooh-let's-see-how-DARK-we-can-be" embarrasment. Torture porn for comics audiences. No story at all.

Your list did remind me of Planetary, though, which I did remember liking when it first came out.

Planetary is fantastic, especially when Elijah Snow "wakes up" and goes after his adversaries.

I thought Authority was just OK. Great art, interesting premise, but I don't get all the hype for this book.

Iron Man Extremis I bought 4-5 months ago, and every once in a while I'll read another chapter. I have a hard time getting into this book.

When you said Transmetropolitan is the only Ellis book you've ever liked, I was going to ask if you disliked Planetary.

I will ask, though......Did you read the first half of Ellis's run on Thunderbolts? ("Faith in Monsters"). I thought that was fantastic, although the second half of his run ("Caged Angels") was pretty much phoned in.

Funny, I said something like that to hawkeyeps a week ago or so. It does look like that. Stylistic/arty version of a B character (MK is more Z than B, one can argue), with a street level setting? :P

I haven't read it yet- my books only arrive one month later. Still hopeful it will be a great series.
