Makes me smile ~ ear to ear when
you buy a comic that you want for £2.99 shipped on ebay.
and
it has the shop price sticker of £19.95 on it
Just brought back alot of fond memories of working in a comic shop ~ and they discounted all the original valiant to $0.50 Aust (at the time 0.30 us cents) a copy.
Picked up lots of pre unity ~ and rai 21 vvss ~ they had the max prices on them from back in the day, and where just being dumped in a sale.
Just memories ~ thought I would share.
Obviously I have overpaid aswell, swings and roundabouts.

I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

I bought a Master Darque's first appearance a few months back (one of those issues I just buy every time I see it for no apparent reason...it's like when Mel Gibson has to buy Catcher in the Rye in Cnspiracy Theory). I think I bought it for $.50 and it had $30 on the sticker...it had probably been on there since '93Phantom wrote:you buy a comic that you want for £2.99 shipped on ebay.

I bought a full NM- run of Sandman, 75 issues for $150, plus a bunch of extras. The price tags on the first 10-15 issues were ridiculous. I think #1 was $50. Most of the early issues were $20-25.

It will be really interesting to see what early issues of The Walking Dead will be going for 5 years after the television show ends.

I think I saw that same auction. That's a great buy.nycjadie wrote:I bought a full NM- run of Sandman, 75 issues for $150, plus a bunch of extras. The price tags on the first 10-15 issues were ridiculous. I think #1 was $50. Most of the early issues were $20-25.
I think the 1st issue will still go between 30-40 bucks easily

I have the same problem: every time I see Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson, I MUST have it.BugsySig wrote:...it's like when Mel Gibson has to buy Catcher in the Rye in Conspiracy Theory.

Good to know. Now I need to figure out how to get my copies of those issues in front of your eyes for an outrageous price.BugsySig wrote:I bought a Master Darque's first appearance a few months back (one of those issues I just buy every time I see it for no apparent reason...

Re: Makes me smile ~ ear to ear when
One time at a show, I had about $30 worth of quarter books and the vendor was kind enough to load them into a short box for me. Upon seeing a copy of Valeria She-Bat #1 gold foil variant, he held it up and said "You know once this was a $120 book?" I said I knew it was worth quite a bit at one point but had not heard a value that high. And I still paid a quarter for it. That was a pretty good feeling.

The folly of speculation. How many guys are sitting out there with a thousand copies of Shadowhawk #1 or The Maxx?Chiclo wrote:Upon seeing a copy of Valeria She-Bat #1 gold foil variant, he held it up and said "You know once this was a $120 book?"

I hear that Jim Valentino comes by my LCS from time to time. If I ever get to run into him, I would ask if I could give him the many, many duplicate copies of ShadowHawk that have made their ways into my hands.jmatt wrote:The folly of speculation.
