There are some pretty interesting comic projects on http://www.kickstarter.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I'd like to turn this thread into a place to discuss the kickstarter comic projects. Please post comic related kickstarter projects you are supporting!

I'll start with the return of Brigade by Rob Liefeld. They have some pretty interesting backer options. I opted for the $25.00 donation that gets me 5 variant covers signed by Rob Liefeld. Brigade was a favorite of mine as a youngster so it's worth the trip down memory lane.

I haven't looked at anything on there in a little bit, but my first ever kickstarter pledge was for The Man of God comic. I can't wait to hold them in my hands.

I missed the boat on OOTS (Order of the stick) reprint kickstarter over a year ago too. It did fine without me , made 1.2 mil (they needed 57K)

Kickstarter is a great tool and I am sure I will be involved in others in the future.

I really like Kickstarter a lot. I don't like that major players (established companies) have stolen a little of the indie's thunder, but it seems to be dying down a bit. I perused all of the comic Kickstarters after I pledged for Man of God, but none struck my fancy.

I'm more into the tech and software Kickstarters. That's where it really shines, as there are tons of people out there with really good ideas that would never see the light of day in any other way.

Did really enjoy his work on new mutants I have to say - no I am nit being sarcastic. And I rea the new prophet - not that he is working on it.

Kickstarter is great for video games... but not so much for comics. The low price of titles doesn't really translate well to fundraising as you end up spending alot more due to postage etc.

Also with so many ways of self-publishing - at a reasonable-ish price why would anyone need to kickstarter a comic... get it printed and sell it.

This is only my opinion and I know Man of God went down this route and I'm pleased for them, same with Cyberforce which I enjoyed... I'm just not sure what the benefit is compared to just publishing and getting it done.

So Rob has been sending out messages to the supporters and his last message basically said "things are going to be delayed even though I received 1.5x the money I asked for". Needless to say I went and canceled my backing. Guess I should have known better.

Man...I was going to come here and hype a project that I really believe in. A weird western webcomic that the artist is trying to complete and collect into a nice hardcover but it looks like he's already raised $25,000 in two days and this baby is FUNDED! Still, check it out! A really unique work from amazing artist, Dave Wachter.

Actually, he is. Rob Liefeld is the creator that got me into comics as a child and I religiously have followed him since Youngblood #1, for better or worse. Never has one creator caused more frustration as a fan than this guy. And the single reason is because he starts a project all gung-ho, and 99% of the time never completes it. All of the original regular monthly Extreme/Maximum Press/Awesome Comics runs were cancelled on cliffhangers, with no explanation other than Rob having financial troubles or blaming others. Even the recent Extreme relaunched titles that Rob took over (Bloodstrike and Youngblood) never came out (with the exception of two issues of Youngblood...ending in the middle of a story...)

And now with him telling folks that there will be delays in the Brigade Kickstarter. NO SURPRISE. And while I am still a little excited about the possibility of Brigade's return (what, the 5th time now?) I seriously doubt more than one issue, if any at all will come out. And Rob will blame others for it...I can almost guarantee it.

It is my love/hate relationship for this creator that has inspired me to write an article about this very topic in the next month or so (via EatYourComics.com). I would want nothing more than Rob to just commit himself to ONE solid title on a regular basis and save what little fanbase he has left. But for me...after jumping on board so many failed cancelled books (due to laziness and poor planning on Rob's part) for over 21 years...I can confidently say i've had enough...and would rather spend my time and money on reliable, passionate creators such as the Valiant guys.

I like to browse around kickstarter for stuff that interests me. When I first got into collecting I wanted to find stuff that would appreciate in value. As an adult I collect things I like and don't worry about the value. That's made all the difference in the world for me and allows me to pickup stuff like kickstarter projects because they look interesting and not because they have the potential to appreciate.

So far I have pledged for a few kickstarters
Ashes by Alex DiCampi a sequel to Smoke a comic I loved from around 06. So far everything has gone great, as the entire story was put on comixology first so I could read it as completed and the finished hard cover should be delivered this fall.

Doug TenNapel sketchbook, as a huge earthworm Jim fan this was a really neat project that made so many stretch goals the final book was an incredible value. Tempered only by the authors less than enlightened thoughts about gay marriage, alas I can still enjoy his work.

Carbon Gray had a kickstarter to finish publication of their comic, they had some neat bonuses so I was fairly happy as everything was delivered at the promised time frame. Though I was a little put off when they had another kickstarter to do the next volume with many of the same items.

I also pledged for the Jonathan Coulton/Greg Pak code monkey saves the world and the Greg Rucka/
Rick Burkett Lady Sabre collection. Very excited for both.

The last comic kickstarter I funded was the Micah Ian Wright return to comics, I can't recall it's name as it hasn't shipped yet but it was a WW2 era biplane story, and the preview art looked awesome. I should be getting that either by the end of the year or early 2014.

I didn't due the Brigade or Cyberforce ones, mostly out of a lack of funding. Say what you will about the initial Image books, 12 year old me adored them, so they will always hold a special place in my heart.

Oh and as for current kickstarters http://www.asofterworld.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is doing one and while it's not a traditional web comic I love it dearly and will be pledging soon.

Wow I guess I do like kickstarter more than I even noticed.

Sooo...for *SQUEE* and giggles, I looked today to see if Rob's released his Kickstarter book. Nope. Delayed until early 2014. NOT SURPRISED!

Check out the "Updates" link below to read through the typical Liefeld excuses and delays. This kind of things just peeves me off...because there are plenty of other creators out there that are likely dying to have some support through something like Kickstarter:

Never looked at Kickstarter prior seeing posting about the Man Of God project here on the board.

Man of God has been the only Kickstarter I've pledged to, mainly to get a copy of the Playing God trade paperback.
