Re: Your Favorite Obscure Characters of all time?
I have a certain amount of affection for Timbuc from the old Magnus series during the Malev War. Poor guy was made out to be a huge coward because he was afraid of a horde of ectothermic energy hungry murder-bots.
Obviously I like Spylocke. Ishmael from Shadowman was also pretty cool. He was an interesting twist on Bullseye. Midnight Earl was fun as well.
Maybe not obscure if you read manga but the characters Tomomi Moniya from Real and Anotsu Kagehisa from Blade of the Immortal are really good.
For Marvel I'll go with Speedball, The Prowler, John Wraith, The Crippler and Chamber.
For DC all I can think of is Mason Lang from The Invisibles.

As an Ultraverse fan, I think the Ultraverse is best left in the past but Lord Pumpkin should be revived.

Re: Your Favorite Obscure Characters of all time?
As I understand it all of the major Ultraverse characters is that the publisher owns half (which is Marvel because they bought out Mailbu) and the creators own half (or a third between the writer and the artist) this is why Marvel can't or won't bring it back because of the copyright problems.Brother Darque wrote:yes, my brother had Lord Pumpkin comics, he should be brought back.Phantom wrote:I have collected all his appereances ~ (except sludge 3) Going to bind that into a hardcover one day when the cash comes in.Chiclo wrote:Lord Pumpkin was three pounds of awesome in a two pound sack.Phantom wrote:LORD PUMKIN ""!!!!!?

Hate to break the news to you, but read at your own peril:
Darkhawk was one of the kids kidnapped by Arcade and forced to fight to the death in Murder World.
As of Avengers Arena #3, he was apparently killed.
In Avengers Arena #4, the amulet that gives Darkhawk his powers bonded with Chase from the Runaways by burrowing into his chest. Presumably he'll become the next Darkhawk, but we haven't seen this happen yet.

I will always remember Darkhawk as the title that launched the same month as Sleepwalker. And where are they both today?

I have little to no familiarity with Darkhawk's original series, but I like the idea of a legacy power being passed down. Also, I'm not sure if it's been confirmed yet whether or not he's actually dead since
1) This version of Murder World could be a VR simulation
2) He died off-panel.
Despite the familiar premise I've been really enjoying Avengers Arena. Dennis Hopeless has a real knack for dialogue and he has made me care about his cast of characters in a short span of issues. I hope it's not a VR simulation because that would reduce the stakes, but I also really don't want some of the new and returning characters I've grown fond of to die in horrible ways. Really though, that's just how good drama works.

So, this character has an ensorceled alien artifact that manifests an armor around the bearer. The bearer of this scarab - or crystal, if you will - doesn't know the full extent of the power of the armor or its origin and is at times, somewhat of a hostage of the armor. The armor interferes with his personal life and leaves him with rage issues.
You should buy any DC book featuring the current Blue Beetle. That is more or less his thing too.

Re: Your Favorite Obscure Characters of all time?
Oh, I was wrong. His "death" was shown on panel.
However, this series so far has used a life meter to indicate when all the characters have died, and I don't see his life meter showing zero health, so he could still be alive.
