Man, talk about a likely low print run.

I liked the story. Would have been interesting to see it play out.

Re: For any other masochists out there...
Samson or Occultist?
My gut was that Samson started fair, then quickly became sophomoric.
Occultist was decent through.
I just have too much completion in me.
I may be continuing to buy Dark Horse Presents Books.

I liked Samson. The Occultist was pretty good too, but I only read the first one-shot.kevinbastos wrote:Samson or Occultist?

turok tpb was below 1000
Re: For any other masochists out there...
Sheesh! Why even bother with a print run that low??

Re: For any other masochists out there...
I think the Occultist TPB may be the LOWEST print run of the entire Dark Key related mess. For the insane completist (like me) it's the Holiest Grail!

What is the Occultist? Did this character pop up in Dark Horse's Gold Key relaunch?

It's a character created by Mike Richardson. It was officially announced the character was part of the Dark Horse Gold Key line. Whether that will ever play out remains to be seen.rasputin9977 wrote:What is the Occultist? Did this character pop up in Dark Horse's Gold Key relaunch?

Re: For any other masochists out there...
In theory, it is continuing in the Dark Horse Presents Line, starting with issue 11.BruceReville wrote:Dark Key is Dead - Long Live Dark KeyStarBrand wrote:It's a character created by Mike Richardson. Issue 13 even has an Occultist Variant cover
In addition, the initial issue - which was a 'one-shot' had a cover in the style of the Dark Key line.
Dr. Solar 8 vs. The Occultist one-shot
No other cover, including the one-shot variant, has displayed any Dark Key connection.
Occultist one-shot, Occultist 1 of 3 and variant, 2, and 3.

Do you know if issue 11 is the first appearance of the Occultist in that title?kevinbastos wrote:In theory, it is continuing in the Dark Horse Presents Line, starting with issue 11.BruceReville wrote:Dark Key is Dead - Long Live Dark KeyStarBrand wrote:It's a character created by Mike Richardson. Re: For any other masochists out there...
Occultist never was and never will be a Gold Key title - adding it to Dark Key is moot. It was at one point then the line cancelled/hiatus and Occultist (A Dark Horse Original) is the only thing to continue with no connections ever to Gold/Dark Key characterskevinbastos wrote:In theory, it is continuing in the Dark Horse Presents Line, starting with issue 11.BruceReville wrote:Dark Key is Dead - Long Live Dark KeyStarBrand wrote:It's a character created by Mike Richardson. It can be said the Dark-Key line is dead, but we don't know that with certainty. I recall a lot of folks stating with seeming certainty the new Valiant wouldn't ever do a serious relaunch. Some of us weren't among those folks, of course. That said, I felt a lot better about VEI launching a new line than this one coming back, but this line can't be completely counted out. In theory, it does live on in the Occultist.BruceReville wrote:Occultist never was and never will be a Gold Key title - adding it to Dark Key is moot. Dark Horse needs to be put down before they butcher the Gold Key titles anymore -- at least they got the Reprint Volumes right - then again how hard is it to *SQUEE* up material you never created.StarBrand wrote:It can be said the Dark-Key line is dead, but we don't know that with certainty. I really enjoyed the Doctor Solar Archives. I am a moron. And am in until the bitter end. I just have a feeling that a year from now, everything is gonna be back and I will have some 'Magnus Predator TPB' moment.
Although it will probably be more like the Secret Weapons 5 moment.
