As a student nurse, that makes me SO happy to see that! We actually had a father of a CF child come speak to our class this quarter and you could tell he was an amazing man. Seeing the hope in his eyes when he was telling us about this new drug... that is DAMN good news!

Brilliant news.
Re: Something you helped fund:
Yes, this is the first real breakthrough (VX-770) in regards to treating the G551D mutation (about 4% of CF kids/adults have this mutation). There is also work being done on another mutation which I was going to learn about the week after next as I was invited out to the Leaders Working Group out in Bethesda, Maryland but am unable to attend.
Things look better everyday... the wait for Alyssa's particular mutation to be worked on is... hard.

The son of the gentleman who spoke to our class also had a different mutation, but he seemed extremely hopeful that this breakthrough was a HUGE step in the right directionKnightt wrote:Yes, this is the first real breakthrough (VX-770) in regards to treating the G551D mutation (about 4% of CF kids/adults have this mutation).
