ETERNAL WARRIOR #5 - Signed by Kevin VanHook

55 copies of Eternal Warrior #5 have been signed by Kevin VanHook
to commemorate the 5th anniversary of VALIANTCOMICS.com,
ready to be distributed to start the year 2005. (That's a lot of fives, right?)

The price will be $25.00 ($5 times five... to keep the "5-theme" running)
and will be made available to the first 50 messageboard members who
reply to this post. (Private messages don't count, emails don't count.)

PLEASE REPLY ONLY ONCE TO THIS TOPIC... a simple "I'm in" is enough.

I will contact you via email to follow-up on your interest.

This topic was locked for 48 hours prior to
5:00PM Eastern Time on Sunday, January 9th,
(5:00PM Eastern, 4:00PM Central, 3:00PM Mountain, 2:00PM Pacific)
in order to give everyone an equal chance to view the announcement
and makes plans to reply.

Your $25.00 payment will be divided according to your specifications.
$5 will automatically be used for shipping costs.
(International buyers may need to include extra payment for shipping,
to be determined on a case-by-case basis, if shipping exceeds $5.)

The other $20 will either be used as a donation to ValiantComics.com,
or as a donation to the Red Cross in honor of the tsunami relief efforts.
You may divide the $20 in any $5 increments you decide.

Examples:
$10 for ValiantComics.com, $10 for Red Cross
$20 for Red Cross
$15 for Red Cross, $5 for ValiantComics.com
...etc.

I had planned to donate all of the proceeds to the Red Cross,
however, member responses to this plan indicated that it should be
a choice given to each person buying a book. It is 100% your choice.
(Donations do not have to be limited to $25, if anyone would like to give more.)

You do not have to announce how you would like to divide your payment
in this thread. I will be sending an email to each person who replies
to determine how you would like to pay, your address, your donation preference, etc.

These books will be shipped to buyers as soon as possible, however,
it is likely that they will not be sent out the very day after payment is received.
(Fifty packages will be a lot, and I still have a day job, you know.)

Additional replies from the same member will be deleted to keep
the topic clear and concise.

In keeping with the tradition of the original V.V.S.S. books from Valiant,
these 55 books are not individually numbered.

There are 55 signed copies, each intended to be identical.
It is possible that somewhere in shipping, the condition of some books
may no longer be either perfect, or identical to all other copies.
For that reason, let's say that all copies are believed to be
in at least Very Fine condition, according to Overstreet standards.

50 copies are immediately available through this announcement.
Five copies have been set aside for future, yet-to-be-determined purposes.
(Most likely they will be either kept, or auctioned on Ebay.com.)

The only requirement for participation in this plan is to be
a registered member of this messageboard.
(Only one book per person, please.)

The number of posts you have made is not a factor...
Though, I presume members who have been around longer
will be more likely to see this post before the 48 hours
of advance notice have ended.
(So, it's possible there is an advantage for more experience members.)

I'd like to say ahead of time that I hope there will be no hard feelings
resulting from this program. I have done and will do my best to ensure
that everyone is treated fairly, as always.

I would like to specially thank Kevin VanHook for signing these books,
and for his participation on the ValiantComics.com site and messageboard.
Eternal Warrior #5 was the first full Bloodshot story written by Mr. VanHook,
and I hope this will be a nice way to commemorate the site's 5th Anniversary!

Good luck to all!!!

Greg Holland

All 50 copies have been reserved.

If anyone else would like to reply, you will be "first alternates"
if any of the responders fail to pay.

Thanks everybody!

So much for 2 Day Priority Mail... I sent it out yesterday afternoon!
That's under 24 hours! Surprised
(Sadly, some of you will probably wait 3 days, so it all "balances out".)

Got my book this A.M.! (Arkansa to Maryland) Everthing loks great. I've got a lot of books that are "worth" more, but I can tell this one is going to hold a special place in my Obsessivley Compulsive heart. Very Happy I really had a blast putting in my request and reading all the posts about this book. A real "community" vibe. Great job Greg. Thumbs Up Thanks.

Got mine today. Thanks, Greg. Good job on the packaging too. The box was banged up, but the book was protected!!

Quick question: How did you choose who got the logo corner covers, cause mine ain't got one? Confused Doesn't quite feel "official" if you get my drift. Or do I have the ultra-rare corner coverless variant. Twisted Evil Is that something that I could pay postage on to get it mailed out cause it looks dang cool?

Thanks again!!! Thumbs Up

Thanks Knight, the wait won't be much longer and you can take that to the bank!

I know Greg and Architect are sick of me by now (for asking about their respective books), but any word on alternates yet? Sad

Just think, start parting out the alternates, and you won't have to read anything else from me!! Laughing

Project update:

5 copies are still unpaid (as of 2pm Central 1/25/05)

Funds raised:

$645 specified for ValiantComics.com
$175 specified for Red Cross
$141 designated as "up to you" (Greg's decision)
$20 undesignated (or, I lost the answer... note sent)
$20 designated for future cause
Total = $1,001 (not counting the 5 unpaid copies)

(Yes, the numbers are "off" a little because a few buyers
donated extra. You know who you are...)
Thumbs Up

I'll wait about one more week for the unpaid books to be paid for...
then I will notify the original 'claimants' that I'm moving to alternates.

By the way, my significant other wants a phone number and a brief description of you and your collection. A picture would be nice (of the collection).
