Powers That Be #1 question

Comic universes no longer active, Bravura, Continuity, CrossGen, Future, Malibu, Ultraverse... and others that are 'no longer with us' today (or only recently brought back).

Powers That Be #1 question

Post by sbcomics »

Do all the copies of "Powers That Be" #1 have gold lettering where it says "Featuring Fatale. Also Star Seed" on the right hand side and "Special First Broadway Comics Issue" on the left? I assume yes, but it's hard to tell from the scans online if it's foil lettering (like there is on the copy I'm looking at) that scanned dark, or regular dark lettering.

Thanks!

- Matt

Yep. I had both editions. No longer the case. I divested myself of Defiant and Broadway a while back.

I was just reading Powers that Be 1 & 2. How about that swipe the movie "Hancock" took from this comic....the panels where the car gets spiked on the top of the building....

Didn't like them that much, needed the space or something else?

If I can find a decent run I'm going to add them to my 2011 reading challenge... and those are pretty similar images. No idea if anyone involved with Hancock would have read Broadway or if it was just one of those things. It'd be kind of cool if it was a subtle homage to Shooter.

My problem with Hancock was mostly that it felt like two dissimilar movies welded together in the middle.

Yeah, I used to own a page of the original art from that section of the book. I had the page where the hero is lifting the car off the building.

That's a cool page. The production of these Broadway books are great. From the intro pages to the letter columns. Re-reading them all.

Here's the scene of the Hancock swipe....last 5 seconds of the vid:

It was a combination of space/money. I liked them just fine but of all the comics I had that were put together at the time, they were the ones I could get something for. I kept some of the doubles I had and I didn't sell the Plasm or Dark Dominion # 0 binders/sets.

I hear ya... I can't tell you how many Plasm binders I have had over the past six years. But I still keep this universe as it was my 'actual' first Dead Universe because I went on a 'gotta have everything that Jim Shooter did' collection. I then started up with Continuity Comics after needing something else to collect. I don't think that I have dropped anything since but after going through my closet and garage, I find that space is limited and I must have five short boxes of books that I need to bag/board and buy the actual short boxes to store them in... and that means a new storage shelf !!

I have a plan to label each box with it's contents but I have yet to have a weekend where at least one if not both days had a major activity that kept me from starting the work without a chance to finish it. From my current calendar I will be busy up until the second week of 2011.

Sometimes I wonder just what in the heck am I going to do once I finish my collecting and finish reading everything. Do I just keep them in a comic box ? Hold onto them ? Sell them (which I can't see as being profitable because DUs are typically CHEAP) ?

What do we do with comic collections when we are done collecting ?

Swap em for stuff you are collecting?

I try to keep stuff I feel like I will re-read, but I also find it fun to have something I'm actively looking for at any given time.
