All original art pages from a complete comic
Is there any interest in buying complete art from an entire issue?
I have complete interior pages from Harbinger and Turok among others.
Please take the poll and let me know.

Isn't it just great to have Howard Simpson on the boards!
(One of the all-time great VALIANT artists
)
Anyway, the question:- This is really subjective. For me, I would not spend the money to buy every page. I collect pages that I would frame. I wouldn't frame 20 or 30 pages, definitely not of the same book.
But there are definitely collectors out there who collect entire pages.
They are I feel in the minority though.
If you take a look a look on CAF you will see the gallery owners favourite pages displayed, and they are the ones they pay the biggest bucks for.
So my view point would be if you have one great page, beautiful art, key plot, whatever, you would get much bigger bucks for it selling it individually.
If however the book as a whole is a really important issue. Like Harby #1 etc etc, you might get a better price as a book. Even if you're market is the minority all you need is one good bid and you've hit the jackpot.
If you have nice splash pages I would sell them off. They will always command big bucks. To bundle it in with the other pages you may be setting the price too high assuming somebody would want the other pages.
Again Sonicdan and MagnusR would have some great info on this for you.

Vote cast, though it is a case by case scenario. The charm of a complete issue is that the story of the issue make one creation in itself, that should stay together. At least when the story and the penciller's rendation of it, is of a certain quality. As mentioned above, Harbinger 1 should clearly stay together. I have bought some complete issues, and in one case managed to get the cover as well. As a collector and as a fan, it is a nice feeling.Howard Simpson wrote:Is there any interest in buying complete art from an entire issue?

For the artist selling the issue, it saves work, but would in most cases mean less money.
Btw, all options apply to me. I voted complete interiour with cover, but I would just as well buy interiours without cover. And in many cases I would prefer to cherry-pick a few pages.

I voted "I would prefer to only buy a page or two at a time".
The many reason for this has been money. Usually the cost of a complete book prevents me from buying.
I usually buy common pages for different inking styles so I am on the low end of bidding.

It really depends. I would like to buy the whole interior to SLoDM #1 from Bernard Chang because I already have the all the colors (which I bought from KVH) and because it would be afforable. If we are talking about Harbinger 1, I would love to have the worst page the book, cause it's all I could afford.

Well, I can only afford to buy a page or two at a time with my limited art budget so that is how I voted.
That is unless you want to cut me a REALLY sweet deal.

Gallery
This may be happening. I've been in discussion with an art gallery to work out details. It would be in New Jersey. More info later as plans are finalized or if it falls through.dave wrote:can you imagine how cool it would be to have an entire book framed and hanging on a wall (or four walls) as part of a museum exhibit type deal? that would be really sweet...

I'd by it all if I could afford it. I was sorry to see I was outbid on the Harby covers, but at least they're going to good homes (and I was able to boost the price a bit). I thought $200 for each was a steal, but was unable to up my bids.
I have a handful of pages and a bunch of colors. The only other art I have are Defiant inks and colors, and a Layton title page from the Hercules "Marvel Comics Presents" mini series that he sent as a gift. I forget which issue it comes from.---Steve

I think, if at all possible, all of the pages to an issue should be kept together. That being said, I realize that it is much harder to sell artwork that way. So if I were you, I'd try to sell the issue as one lot, and if that didn't work, sell them individually. It's always worth a shot to shoot for the moon first.
I'd also make copies for myself before the pages are gone. I know that a lot of artists don't think about this, and then later on they wish they had nice, black and white copies of what they've done for their archives.
